we're almost out of candy!

We have had SO MANY trick or treaters! I had bought maybe 6 BIG bags of candy (A lot of money I spent ::yoda::) and we're almost out, we've easily had 100+ kidlets.

Re: we're almost out of candy!

  • Us too! I bought 8 of the regular-size bags of candy ... thinking there are only 25 houses in our neighborhood, most houses have 2 kids, but some of the kids are too old to trick-or-treating so there would be 40-45 kids. I thought we had plenty of candy. There have been tons of kids here that I don't know ... they must be coming from other neighborhoods!

So much for having extra candy leftover to take in to work tomorrow ...

  • I didn't even buy any candy this year, because in the last four years of living at my house we've had ONE trick or treater.

We left the light off and only had one inside light on...of course, this is the year the doorbell rings.

I told the group (of jr. high aged girls) that this was the lame house for Halloween, but that when lights are off that usually means they aren't anticipating trick or treaters.  Luckily, I'm a teacher and had some left over candy from my class I could share with them.

  • We bought a ton of candy and only had 2 kids.  :|
  • Light turn-out for us this year, too, but that seems to be typical for our neighborhood.  Not sure why... my guess is that these are the types of parents who take their kids to organized events for Halloween :)
  • I bought 4 HUGE bags of candy - it's about 3/4 gone. With these later kids, I'm just letting them take handfuls so I don't eat anymore!!

  • We actually had to turn our lights out around 7:30 because we were so low! This is our first Halloween in this 'hood, because we were at a Ben Folds concert last year.We were warned about how popular our area is, so thankfully we bought oodles of candy.

It's also the one year anniversary of when we got the pup :)

  • our annual tradition is to go to my parents house because tbheir block goes all out.  when they turned out the lights at just after eight they had just over three hundred kids.  they bought about twenty seven bags of candy this year....

    WHOAH.  That's crazy!!

We had TWO trick or treaters.  TWO.  I gave them each about 5 suckers and DH and I ate a couple so that leaves us with about 85-ish tootsie pops.  Who is hungry!?

  • I bought two BIG bags of candy at Sam's Club and we ran out just after 8 this year.  One of these years we'll get it right.  I either have way too much or way not enough.
  • We didn't get a single kid this year. Which is odd because we have a ton of kids that live around here.

Our single bag of kit-kats is entirely in tact.

  • we had maybe 30 kids. i gave each a handful of candy and we still have a lot left out of the 2 big bags lars picked up.

i do have to share our pumpkins because i thought everyone did a great job on them:

mine is the owl on the top left.

lars' is the silly face next to it.

our roommate, shannon's, is the lower left. it has a bullet hole between the eyes and "brains" blown out the back.

my son's is the lower right and while it's hard to tell in the dark, it's barfing. lol.

  • We had our yard "decorated" with grave stones, and 4 large bags of candy in anticipation of the kiddos.  We had about 80 kids last year, and this year I figured since we decorated the yard, we should step it up a bit, so we bought 210 pieces of candy, so we anticipated & prepared for 105 kids total.

We had about 40 kids.  A total flop.  Half the kids who came were "too old" to be ToTing and they didn't even dress up.  Seriously.  A U of M sweatshirt =/= a U of M football player costume, IMO, but that's what a few of these kids said.  We gave them candy anyway, because I didn't want my house to be egged or my pumpkins to be smashed.
