So DH and I made our first visit to our parents since the wedding. I was kind of nervous about how everything would go since our parents are both jealous of the time we spend with the other set of parents, but things went pretty smoothly. Our parents live in the same town and DH and I live 4 hours away. It's just kind of funny because each set like counts how many hours we spend with the other set to compare. We already know that at Thanksgiving we have to spend an extra night with DH's parents since we spent an extra night with my parents this weekend.
I also found out that MIL ordered matching shirts for all of us to wear for their Christmas card picture.
A) I think matching shirts look stupid MIL doesn't have great taste in matching things
C) Why are DH and I in MIL and FIL's Christmas card?
Whatever. How does everyone else handle family visits?
Re: First Visit With Family
Matching shirts are SOOO lame. Please make sure you post a pic.
My parents live overseas, but there is always a bit of "why are you staying with your Father, why aren't you staying with me?" from my Mother when we do go back. Dad's house is bigger, has two bathrooms and is not in the middle of nowhere, that's why.
DH has okayed me opting out of his family functions, so lucky for me there is no more family visits to be had, except when his parents drop in to see us on the way home from somewhere, it's always a little awkward and his mother usually brings him hideous clothes.
However, his and my parents seem to get on quite well, so no jealousy between them.
