Datsyuks & Ferdy- We Go Together Like...

Re: Well aren't you just the Bee's knees...
I love my puppy ... and my husband, I swear!
morning fair lassies,
i went SHOPPING kinda hardcore this weekend. gerren and i went away to my old stompin' ground in burlington VT. it was fun, but cold and snowy. i got some great new things (new patagonia jacket and burton snowpants for less thant $100 total!), clinique makeup, some shirts at the gap, some JEGGINGS (ew i know) to go with my new boots, and some VS undiexs. gerren bought some ski boots, and then we got our TATTOOS
wasn't so bad! they look really good, but i dont have pictures yet, hopefully will be able to get them up soon.
we went to a halloween party saturday night, were the oldest people there, the only married people, and we felt really old. especially since we were ready to go to bed by midnight. which didnt happen since the people we were with stayed out until 3. so sunday we slept late and didnt do too much.
got two trick or treaters that we were completely unprepared for. pretty embarrassing. note to self: buy candy next year.

Sunshine - sometimes neighborhoods do ToT'ing on different days, did you check the paper? When I lived in Bmore city, we never got ToT'ers even though there were tons of kids in my neighborhood. I heard later that most of the parents took them to some event downtown where the stores hand out candy, and then to the more ritzy neighborhoods farther north. Weirdly, I was in a not-great part of town last night and there were a ton of kids, even as late as 10 pm, which I thought was too late. And a lot of un-costumed adult were holding bags (sometimes more than one per adult), saying they were for kids at home. Seriously?
Saturday was a busy shopping/cleaning/cooking day. I think it might be the last time we go to the mall until maybe February, it was already packed with Christmas shoppers. We also carved a pumpkin, which was a lot of fun. Sunday we worked in the morning/afternoon and a friend had a housewarming/Halloween party in the evening, which was fun, but I ate waaay too much!
Friday, H and I went to a Halloween dance party. H HATES Halloween, so I was dressed up and he was not.
Saturday, I came back into work after Zumba to work on some proposals and then brought pizza back to H. Then we were bums all day.
Sunday, H installed a door (with a cat door!) and I gave out candy. I was surprised at the number of kids that do not say "trick or treat" or "thank you". I was also surprised at the number of older kids (I think tot'ing should stop at like 14, TOPS).
the two kids we got didnt say trick or treat either, just stared at us, even when we said happy halloween and asked if they were having fun. no thank you either. ungrateful brats.
also, i LOVED trick or treating as a kid, and a teen, and i wish i could still do it now. i never went in HS (maybe when i was 14?) but my sophomore year of college i did
it was so fun, totally sober, just ate candy! so so fun. but yes, i think that in general it is weird to trick or treat after the age of 15-16.

Friday night we cleaned, Saturday we cleaned and ran errands. I bought frames for the wedding pics we're putting in our entertainment center.
We had a Halloween party Saturday night. It was a blast. We drank too much and stayed up too late.
Sunday MFD had practice, and I slept most of the day. Then I made a great dinner and soup for lunches, and we watched TV until about 11.
I would like another weekend day.
One of my friends mentioned this happening to her. WTF?
Friday night did nothing but knit
Saturday I wrote ALL the Thank You notes and H cleaned the kitchen and bathrooms (his idea, not mine so he wouldn't have to write any cards). Needless to say, I finished way before him. I did some laundry.
Sat. night went to dinner and a movie with a friend.
Sunday we did some more cleaning and organizing and moved a car load of stuff over to the new place. Finalized our paint colors for painting this weekend (yay!)!! Made sure to have candy for all the trick-or-treaters and we had 1...a baby, in her stroller, with her parents asking for candy.
I cooked pork chops, potatoes and veggies and choc chip cookies AND made tonight's supper in the crock pot then went and folded some laundry and put it away.
Friday night we enjoyed a dinner out for our one month/our anniversary (our anniverary was on halloween when we were dating). Saturday night we went bowling with one of my BMs and her bf. Sunday we picked out the flooring, countertop, and paint color for the cabinets so our kitchen will be our first project.
We cleaned up the kitchen so it actually looks like one now. And I got all of my clothes from my parents to my house. yay
We had one trick or treater, even though our lights were off. I felt awful, but I hate buying candy when we never get them regularly. I know I would eat it all. The one year we did hand out candy, we had 3 kids total. And I bought about 6 bags of the good stuff, so guess where that went?
Saturday I went to a Halloween party solo. DH hates halloween as well and ended up going out of town to see his bestie. Worked well for us both even tho we weren't together.
I ended up taking my brother to the airport at 5am Sunday morning. So I passed out at the party at 3, woke up at 5 and drove to the airport, then drove the 45 miles home while the sun was rising. Slept until noon and then tried to cook, bake, clean and do laundry while exhausted and hungover. Didn't go so well. (except for the black bottom cupcakes, which look amazing
I've been trying to cook dinner more regularly since you all post amazing recipes and talk about your own hausfrau-ing. It's not working so well. DH and I have been together 9 years and to all of a sudden start cooking and trying to plan isn't working. I think we need to take it slow. MIL recently had her friend move out and she's lonely. She comes to see us nearly every day and there's lots of eating out (which I love). But it's hard to keep the produce fresh when I plan a meal and don't end up making it until 3 days later. I've also invited MIL to eat w/ us, but she's allergic to gluten and cooking gluten free AND vegetarian is nearly impossible. *Sigh* DH and I got in a fight about it last night b/c I keep getting irritated when I plan a meal and it doesn't work out. Maybe we should go back to the old way where we only made our own food. Bah, so frustrated!
oh and we hardly got any ToT'ers. wtf. We bought 3 bags and now we have sooo much candy left over. I don't get it, my neighborhood usually gets a lot, idk what happened.
oh and the first two groups of ToT'ers that we got were greedy and destructive. The first group, walked right through our caution tape which was NOT for decor, it was up because we busted out the concrete so we didn't want anyone to trip in it. The jerk off walked right through and pulled the caution tape so the point where it ripped. So DH called him out on it and he ran for the hills. Pretty funny but annoying at the same time. The next group the little greedy girl took a two handfuls of candy and I was like okay that's enough you need to leave some for other ToT'ers and she's like well it's for my cousins and I'm like and that's fine but not two handfuls worth!!
You're way nicer than I am. I always GIVE my candy to the kids. Even before last night when we only had 1 ToTer. I usually give 3 pieces but I know kids will take handfuls otherwise.
Shauni - we weren't the oldest people at the party we went to (close though!) but we were the only married people, and we were yawning around 10 pm and the first to leave. Old fogies, that's us.
And I could go on a rant on ToT'ers, but let me just say: I will not hand out candy to someone not in costume, and I won't give kids candy until they say 'Trick or Treat', even if it requires prompting by me. And I get pissed when they don't say 'thank you'. Then again, I rent, so I don't worry as much about destruction of property.
H and I are both in the safety forces (and he is a RN) so we had a busy weekend working. I have mandatory hours on Saturday night of Halloween because I work in a college town and there is a huge drunk party that night. UGhhh!
We usually have to work when they do TorT in our town but when we are home we have 2 bowls of candy...1 for cute kids that are of appropriate age..no babies and no adults...and 1 for noncostumed adults and for babies...then I hand the candy to the people! I learned a while ago!! Of course the cute costumed kids get the good candy and the others get jolly ranchers or something cheap that I can then take to work and unload!
People will never cease to amaze me!
Happy November everyone!
I always give out the candy too but DH always let the kids take it so the one time I let the kids take it themselves she took two handfuls. So then I was done lol.
Weekend was a blast! we threw a weekend long party at my friend's house. Started on Friday and went till Saturday. We made Saturday night costume mandatory and all went to an upscale restaurant dressed like that. I guess we are all attention whores. It was hysterical but we got lots of applauses and hi-fives and requests for photos from the chef.
I never celebrated halloween as a kid but it one america custom I am loving more and more every year.
This morning not so good though. I feel awful. Got sick in the bathroom. Would consider leaving if I didn't have to drive myself. Hoping things improve.

Friday night, had 2 of my cousins over and we had some bean soup made in the crockpot..it was yummy!
Saturday was laundry day and running errands. DH works all weekend so I'm often doing this on my own.
Sunday - A cousin and I went to see the matinee of Jackass....ah, we've seen all 3 movies together. Parts were hilarious, other parts were
. After DH got off work, we headed to his parents house. His parents decorate their yard and house. We helped with passing out candy (several parents with infants asking for candy, and some kids too old, IMO to ask for candy) and then once the neighborhood died down we helped his 'rents clean up the decorations. Got home late and I'm sleepy.
IUI #1 10/12/11 (Bravelle + HCG + Prometrium & acupuncture) = 10/26 BFP! Beta #1=250, Beta #2= 615. 1st u/s 11/8.
Friday: H worked untill 11 at night so we did nothing.
Saturday: Cleaned and did laundry during the day and waited for H to get off work he was supposed to get off at 3:30 and he wound up getting off at 8:30 so then we went to dinner a nice restruant neither of us had been to before. Then went home since it was already kind of late.
Sunday: We got up and went and had breakfast then I dropped him off at his cousins house because they were going to go run "guy" errands. So I went to Macy's, I bought some Jessica Simpson heels that were not on sale ($90) but they were actually comfortable so I couldn't pass them up. Then went up stairs to the home section (that will be the death of me and my money) and bought stuff I really didn't need. Then went to Barnes and Noble to find a couple of new books. And then met back up with H at Academy where he was buying hunting stuff. Then we went to my dads for dinner and to pass out candy since we live in apartments and obviously we don't get ToTer's. Then back home to pass out!
We live WAY out in the country, so no TorTers for us... Saturday was mostly a bust, DH had to work 7am-noon, I had to work noon til almost 9. We went out to a 'party' afterwards which was basically a bonfire, and was home just after midnight. Old fogies here too apparently.
Slept in Sunday, did some chores around the house (mostly outside since it was sorta nice and prolly one of the last ones we'll get), grocery shopped, and I made apple bread, which I am aching to get into the instant I get home. MMMM.
today and tomarrow I am scheduled to work. Whoo.
Too funny that we are all going through the same thing!
We didn't get too many trick or treaters. I had DH bring in candy to work. I brought in treats to my work from our party on Sat night. I only had one group who didn't say "trick or treat" and I prompted them! Most groups said thank you. I love handing out candy and at first I was telling them they could take 5, then I was just letting them take a handful.
Saturday was a low key party. A bunch of us are married, and it was fun to all be lined up playing battle of the sexes flip cup by couple.
DH worked on wiring up ceiling fans at our house, and I went to shop for a fan yesterday. I cleaned the floors of the whole house on Saturday and made a pot roast for dinner Sunday.
Brew, most weeks I make easy meals that make good leftovers. Once you've been cooking for a little while it gets easy to get into a routine. But I sympathize that it's hard to start to rountine!
I didn't get any ToT'ers either!!! And now everyone at school gets some yummy candy!
Friday DH worked overnight so I watched TV and went to bed
Saturday: Bar review class early then Guster concert at night, followed by a Halloween party where we were neither the oldest, nor the only married couple there.
Sunday: slept lllllllaaaaaaateeee read for class, watched football, ate chinese and went to bed :-)
@Shauni - DH and I will be in Burlington, VT in 2 weeks, not happy to hear there is snow!!!
