Re: had any trick-or-treaters yet?

  • we live in an apartment complex... so none.  boo.

i even bought a bag of candy juuuuuust in case we had anyone.  doubtful.  now i have to hide the full bag of candy from myself and hope that DH goes to town with it, or takes it to work tomorrow.

  • We've had a few, and despite the decorated house, I've seen people just walking straight by.  Looks like we'll have lots of candy leftover.  We had super girl and a garden gnome, a little boy I'm pretty sure was the scarecrow from Batman, and some older kids that just had on dark clothes.
PitaPata Dog tickers Daisypath Anniversary tickers
  • My neighborhood is crazy.  The kids have been out since 5:30!!  Everytime I go to the door I see tons of people outside and every kid that comes up to my door has a crap ton of candy. There are kids with those reusable grocery bags (the environmentally friendly ones) and their bag is literally almost all the way full!!  It's insane.  We didn't buy nearly enough candy so I've started only giving kids 2 pieces.

you're generous!  My parents live in neighborhood where people will drive kids by the truckloads and drop them off (they don't live there).  My mom would buy pounds and pounds of candy (like 10+ bags) and only give a kid once piece.  Never failed, we would run out every year.

lol  i guess that's one of the unconsidered downsides of living in a nicer neighborhood.  it's like for garage sale-ing.  they're more likely to come to your house because they figure you probably have nicer stuff!

  • We had none last night. It was weird, because around 7:00 or we went to talk to the neighbors and they said last year they had tons of kids, mostly teens and their house was the only one that was built. Now there are more houses on the street, we all had lights on and candy ready and nothing. It was kind of a bummer for me. I've never lived in a good place for trick-or-treaters and I was looking forward to having some this year.

  • I had a total of 8, including the group of 4 kids.  I was so sad!  The main reason I was looking forward to it this year was to meet some of our neighbors.

In our last neighborhood it took a couple of years for the kids to start coming around after the houses were built.  I imagine this will be the same.  And then the loads of kids will come.  :)

  • 0.  Every year I buy candy and no one stops by.
  • after the first 2 years at the house with NO trick-or-treaters, we have given up on giving away candy. we go up to cedar park where my sisters live, and they have tons of young families in the neighborhood and a lot of families who bus in their kids. it's a little nuts.
  • Surprisingly, I had nearly twice as many trick-or-treaters as last year!

I didn't get home from Wurstfest until 6, so the first ones at my door (that I know of!) arrived about 6:30, and they live across the street.  As far as I know, those are the only kids who live on my street.  So, I was surprised to see 30+ kids cycle through between 7 and 8.  In fact, I had to turn off my lights at 8:15, because I was afraid I would get another group of 10+ kids at the door, and I didn't have enough candy left.

A pleasant surprise: every single kid who trick-or-treated at my house was wearing a costume.  No surly uncostumed teenagers!

  • zip.

it made me sad b/c (literally) everyone w/ kids on our street took off to go somewhere else. we decided to stay home this year and all the lights on our street were off!

jon walked jack up to another street in our neighborhood, but i was super excited to stay home and see all the littles.

  • We had quite a few!  Which I was pretty excited about.... This is the second year at our house and the first where we were home to pass out candy! I didn't think we'd get nearly as much as we did since we are in a culdesac.  I turned our light off at 8:30 and kept the ten or so pieces of candy I had left!!! Angel

  • Our neighborhood is one of those that people drop their kids off in. We ran out by 8pm. Between our group, we had spent over $300 in candy and we couldn't keep up.
  • we didn't have nearly as many as in the years past - I don't know if it's because halloween fell on a sunday? we have a huge bowl of leftover candy.

the best costume though?  a group of teenagers dressed in regular clothes.  I asked - so, what are you supposed to be?  the response - teenagers.  Indifferent
