Kalahari or Great Wolf?

(DC Nestie here again) First of all, thank you Toledo Nesties for your wonderful suggestions for a day trip while we're in town for Thanksgiving.

One idea that we've talked about is spending a night (during the week, not weekend) at either Kalahari or Great Wolf Lodge.  Any thoughts?  (it would be me/DH/my mom/DD who is almost 4)  From what I can see, the prices are about the same.  Anyone have any preference and why?  It honestly doesn't sound that fun to me, but DD might enjoy it and it would be nice to get away for a night.  I have heard that Great Wolf is better for younger kids.  Any insight is appreciated.  Thanks again in advance, Jenn

Re: Kalahari or Great Wolf?

  • I stayed at Great Wolf about 1.5 years ago and wasn't impressed, the room wasn't very nice and the place was loud with kids running up and down the halls all night long. I've heard since then that the Great Wolf has bedbugs (you can google it), that's enough to make me never stay there again!
  • I really liked Kalahari, I am pretty sure it is larger too.

  • I have stayed at both. I would choose Kalahari over Great Wolf anytime. We took BFs son (6 at the time) and niece (8 at the time) to Kalahari last year and they had a blast. So did we. They have alot more to do in and out of the water park than Great Wolf.

  • I've never been to Great Wolf, but we've been to Kalahari twice now, with our 3rd trip coming up in a month.  Our little guy is almost 4 and really enjoys it.  I wish there was more for him to do & DH & I get bored sometimes because we can't go on things together, but it's a nice place to get away.
