Re: recommend your blackberry

  • I know you said you want a BB, but is there a specific reason?

I used to have a storm2 and DH used to have the Tour and we both recently switched to phones with the Android operating system.  It is like a night and day difference, the android phones are just so much faster and have better (to me atleast) features.  My SIL and her bf also used to have BBs and switched to Droids and like them so much better as well.  We are all with VZW.  I currently have the LG Ally and DH has the Droid.

Sorry that wasn't much help because you said you want a BB - but just in case you're open to other smartphones, I'd recommend both the phones DH and I have.

  • I have the Curve and I LOVE it! I love the BB operating system. I've had the Andriod operating system and thought it was ok.

    What I love:

I'm sick of touch screens so that is what I love most about my BB. I can send emails with 1 click. (I'm sure others can too)

I also love the qwerty keypad.

The new curves have the track pad, which is like a mouse pad on a computer rather than the trackball, which was a pain in the butt.

     What I hate:

The camera could be a little better but it works for what I use it for at work.

I also wish they kept the same charger port as before, the usb, now it's the micro usb.  (I have a ton of the old ones and are also compatible with my GPS so I only needed one car charger).

  • I second the PP who asked if you were for-sure on having a blackberry

I have the curve, and as far as BB goes, it is fine.  My next phone won't be a BB though.

I have had issues with the browser (websites never seem to load properly) and it doesn't "do" a lot of the things that other phones can do.  I was excited about having Excel, but I haven't used it once (and I am an accountant, so it is something I use daily)  (plus, I am sure other phones have Excel too)

I haven't quite figured out what is "good" about a BB versus some of the other options.

One thing I HATE about my phone is that all of my e-mail comes to the same in-box.  So, my work and my g-mail both hit the same place on my phone - the commingling of personal and work bothers me.

  • I should have said I'm open to other types of smartphones, we're just not looking to get an iphone. I've heard good things about the android operating system, I'll have to check out the phones that pp mentioned.

    Thanks!
