Election Day Poll

I know we don't talk about politics often on our board, so it got me thinking about the following:

 1)  Did you vote today or do you plan to (today or whenever your elections are)?

2)  Do you tend to vote on party lines or does it depend on the candidate?

3)  How do you get information about the candidates?

4)  Are there any hotly contested races in your area?

Re: Election Day Poll

  • I'm not American, but I do vote every time I can. Too many people fought for my right to cast a ballot for me to just take it for granted. I wish it was mandatory like it is in Australia!
  • 1)  Did you vote today or do you plan to (today or whenever your elections are)?  Yes.  I'm really lucky because my polling place is directly across the street from where I live, so I just rolled out of bed and went to vote.

    2)  Do you tend to vote on party lines or does it depend on the candidate?  It depends on the candidate, but I'm less likely to vote for an independent if there is one candidate I really don't like and I'm worried about him winning.

    3)  How do you get information about the candidates?  I follow politics pretty much year round, so I know who most of the players are in my area.  I do love political ads though, even if they aren't always the most accurate.

    4)  Are there any hotly contested races in your area?  Yes.  The Illinois Senate race is a pretty big one, and so is the one for Illinois governor.

  • 1)  Did you vote today or do you plan to (today or whenever your elections are)? I'm going after work today.

    2)  Do you tend to vote on party lines or does it depend on the candidate? Usually party lines but it also depends on the candidate.

    3)  How do you get information about the candidates? Newspaper, the news and internet.

    4)  Are there any hotly contested races in your area? The governor race is a big deal in CA. Also Prop 19 which would legalize marijuana is a huge topic.

  • 1)  Did you vote today or do you plan to (today or whenever your elections are)? I voted a week ago yesterday; my county has early voting, so H and I took care of it ASAP.

    2)  Do you tend to vote on party lines or does it depend on the candidate? I look at all candidates, but given the stances on issues, I end up voting on party lines.

    3)  How do you get information about the candidates? Local newspaper, internet.

    4)  Are there any hotly contested races in your area? I'm watching the governorship; even though O'Malley leads, turnout's a big deal. Our congressman and senator seem secure.

  • 1)  Did you vote today or do you plan to (today or whenever your elections are)?  I did before I came into work.

    2)  Do you tend to vote on party lines or does it depend on the candidate?  I tend to vote along the party line because those are the candidates that have the ideas/values/platform that I support.

    3)  How do you get information about the candidates?  I work for a non-profit advocacy organization.  We do voter education all year long; I can't escape it.

    4)  Are there any hotly contested races in your area? Our house race is pretty nasty, but I think the incumbent will hold the seat.

  • 1)  Did you vote today or do you plan to (today or whenever your elections are)? I'm leaving work in a 1/2 hour to go vote

    2)  Do you tend to vote on party lines or does it depend on the candidate? I rarely vote party lines. I am just too middle of the road to strongly side with one party or the other.

    3)  How do you get information about the candidates? the internet

    4)  Are there any hotly contested races in your area?  The governor race is a big deal. Both candidates are crooked politicians. Ask Republicans or Democrats in FL- none of us want either of them in office. I still am not 100% on which one I'm going to vote for. It makes me sad that either one of them will be our Governor.

  •  1)  Did you vote today or do you plan to (today or whenever your elections are)? If I could vote, I would definitely (I'm only a legal resident not citizen) and would do the early voting to avoid the long lines.

    2)  Do you tend to vote on party lines or does it depend on the candidate? I think when it comes to voting political parties shouldn't  matter as long as you vote for a candidate who's ideas you approve of for the most part.

    3)  How do you get information about the candidates? I watch the news attend rallies and use the internet.

    4)  Are there any hotly contested races in your area? For state governor yes, Rick Perry is running against the current mayor of Houston and let me just say I wouldn't like it if Rick Perry wins again.
