DH and I had a big discussion about my birthday this year, he hasn't really done much for it in past years, so this year I asked him to do something special. (my bday is the 11th)
We share a google calendar. He sent me two invites last night inviting me to a surprise pre-bday event on Sat as well as a post-bday event next Sat. I just checked the calendar to see what the rest of my week looks like and there was an appt. on his for him to call and make appts. (he had marked off the 'privacy' box but apparently I can still see it, just not make changes to it- he must of thought I wouldn't be able to see it) for our Saturday excursions- naming the place- which makes it very obvious what it is.
I'm super bummed that I know now and I feel stupid for how much I'm letting it affect me. I emailed him saying that checking the 'privacy' box on google does NOT hide stuff from me. I think he'll be bummed too to know that I know now, but I'm a horrible liar and there's no way I could 'pretend' I didn't see it... Sucky part is now that I know what the event is, I also know what my bday present from him is. Stupid google calendar.
Anywho, just really bummed, and needed to get it out. Thanks for reading.
Re: Kinda bummed...
He just emailed me back, he's pretty mad at google, and isn't sure how this will affect the plans...
The Sat appt's are for wine making classes at Midwest Brewery, which means he most likely bought me a wine making kit set-up (something I've been talking about wanting to do for a couple months).

Oh no! That is a bummer - - but at least the plans (and suspected gift associated) sound like fun!
A few years ago, I found out that DH was planning a surprise birthday dinner party for me. Silly boy hadn't logged out of his email, so went I went to check mine, I saw that he had several emails from friends of mine with a subject line that made it pretty clear he was planning a surprise. I tried to put it out of my mind - and I really didn't know the details (where, when, who), but it was hard. In the end, I was still pleasantly surprised by what he pulled off and still had a wonderful time. Hopefully the same will happen for you!
My hubby went all out with a surprise party for my 40th. Only he planned it with my sister. Who in turn included my 7 year old niece in the plans. The weekend before my birthday I went to see my niece at swimming and she said "We're having a party for you, but don't tell because it's a surprise."
I went the whole week knowing that it was going to happen, just not where or when. I asked a coworker if I should let DH know that it was spoiled and she convinced me not to. And while some of the fund was spoiled, it was still a fun party.
