Los Angeles? And boxes?

Happy Friday everyone! Two questions for you lovely ladies today:

(1) Anyone been to L.A. recently? Tips, restaurant suggestions, attraction info is very welcome... or even just good locations to stay in!

(2) Where is the cheapest place to get moving boxes and supplies? I tried asking at supermarkets but they were all yucky and soggy. I don't want to spend a fortune on cardboard but I need a ton!

Re: Los Angeles? And boxes?

  • Craigs List!  A lot of people are giving them away after they move.  Some sell them but they are still WAY cheaper than the actual price.  When we moved, we posted all of our boxes on CL for free, and they were snatched up immediately.  We also sold two of our "garment" boxes (with the metal rods) that cost us $10 each, for $10 total.  Someone bought those right away too.

  • The best free boxes locally is from liquor stores.  Heavy duty and strong.  Just ask and they will put them aside for you.  Also, paper boxes from companies, etc.  Those are great for general household items.
  • I ditto the liquor store idea.  I have to say though, the movers thought we were lushes.  :-)  Paper boxes are great too.  Nice sized, and usually with handles.
