Shall we talk Thanksgiving?
Who knows what they are doing yet? Is anyone hosting? We will be going to in-laws as per usual. I need to come up with a new signature cocktail for evening...this is always my job.
Re: Shall we talk Thanksgiving?
Last year we moved into our house on Halloween, so we didn't want to host any holidays after just getting settled in (we had our family over between Thanksgiving and Christmas to see the house, but didn't my a big holiday meal). We're holding off hosting any holidays until after we finish the basement, which will start any day now. We may do Christmas Day next year.
So I guess either my mom or aunt will be hosting Thanksgiving this year. Christmas will be with DH's family in CT.
We're going to my aunt's house. She hosts every year. I think we will bring a salad and maybe a pie or some wine.
We are also running in a turkey trot! We started the tradition last year and I'd like to keep it up. It feels good to go out and get some exercise in the morning.
my parents are hosting my mom's entire family (she has 4 siblings, with spouses, and the kids!). We don't have to do anything except show up
.

This year I may actually have Thanksgiving off!
I'm probably going to my grandmother's house since this will be the first holiday without my grandfather.
And I maybe running in a 5 mile turkey trot in the morning, too. Good excuse to eat more! haha
Which one are you running in?? A few years ago I ran one in Andover and it was madness. Pretty much 3.1 miles of dodging in and out of walkers and strollers.
That sounds really fun!
Have you heard of Pumpkin Pie shots? Not that this may be appropriate for a family function... it would be for my family (lol) but it depends on your own!
We are going to the same friends' house that we went to last year. I love his entire family, they are so nice. Then Friday we'll be at another friends' for leftovers and a bonfire. The dogs all come out and run around the yard while we have the bonfire and make smores.
We are staying local and go to my parents for Thanksgiving-- I'm on-call plus have to work Friday (DH gets Christmas by default as it's his holiday, so I claim Thanksgiving).
I may run in a Turkey Trot if I can get myself in gear... I've been running (or stuck on the 1st week of the c25k) but think I could make a 5K... a very slow one but I could/might/possibly complete one.
We won't know for sure until H gets his work schedule confirmed, but our plan is to have an open house type day. I'll cook us dinner and friends can stop by whenever for food & drinks. I ordered our turkey yesterday. My dad is prob coming up also.
If H ends up having to work, I'll go for dinner at my friend's parent's house.
Last year we ran in my H's hometown in PA. They closed the streets so it was only bad for the first 1/2 mile or so, then it opened up as people spread out. And no strollers were allowed! I can't imagine dealing with that. Hopefully this year won't be to bad but we'll see.
Punky, that bonfire night sounds so fun!
ooh what are they? For sure appropriate!
