OMG, I WILL THROAT PUNCH YOU!!!

So you guys probably don't remember, but a while ago, I had a new employee basically accuse me of lying about sending him emails when I told his supervisor about it....

Backstory: new guy started.  I kept trying to contact him REPEATEDLY by phone AND email about his govt charge card.  He never responded.  I finally got in touch with his supervisor asking him what the deal was and then the employee called me up and accused me of lying about trying to contact him.  His exact words were "Were you lying about those emails?"  Um, no... I have proof because I still have those emails...

Anyway, so he calls me up a few minutes ago.. I hadn't spoken to him since that incident, but I had let MY boss know about it right after it happened.  So he calls me and tells me that he's going to be TDY over Veteran's Day so he'll be working on the holiday.  It's kinda crappy, but with the govt, if you work on a Federal holiday, you're already getting holiday pay for it, so you don't really get anything extra for it (no overtime, no comp time, etc.).  You just get paid time and a half.  I kept trying to explain this to him over and OVER AND OVER again, but he just wasn't comprehending.  Fast forward 5 minutes later and I'm still on the phone with the guy.  My boss had come into my office by this time because he could obviously hear me repeating the policy like 15 times.  Dude STILL does not get it.

Don't get pissy with me... I didn't write the damn policy.  Get the eff over it.

  • OMG what an A$$! Grrr!!!
  • Geez he sounds like a piece of work! I would have put him on speaker phone when my boss walked in so he could hear how stupid this guy was.

  • HE JUST WENT AND TOLD ON ME!!!  BAHAHAHAHAHA.  He just had his supervisor call me.  Luckily, about 3 minutes before he called, I sent both the supervisor AND the employee a link to the policy on it.  BOOYAH!!!

  • DO IT!!!

At least your boss is up on this guys antics.

  • Hahah nice!

  • Good for you!!!

I am getting very, very tired of explaining to people that the big, red, all-caps "NO RENEWALS" stamp that I put on every interlibrary loan book strap (right across the front cover, folks!) means that they cannot "extend" their borrowing time. Extend = Renew. NO RENEWALS = NO EXTENSIONS.

One person was whining about how borrowing periods for interlibrary materials should be at least two or three weeks. I looked up her record and informed her sweetly that she's already had the book for three weeks and it's not due until Thursday, so she actually got to keep it for three and a half. Then she tried to worm out of it by claiming that she couldn't come in immediately when she was called and told that the book was in for her, but I took the wind out of her sails again when I informed her that I notify everyone via email and never by phone.

Don't lie to me. It's tiresome, and I will catch you.

  • So Kelly are you saying I can't renew? Darn it! Come on just this once just for me! I am special to you even though you have never seen me before! HAHA! Hugs sorry people are stupid!
  • I hate when people get mad at you about a policy that you obviously had no part in creating.  I don't care how much you disagree with it, don't shoot the messenger.  It's not their fault.

  • I just can't believe that he went and cried to his supervisor!!  Just because his supervisor calls me, doesn't mean that the policy is going to change.  After I told the supervisor that I had already sent him the link to the policy, he was like "yeah, I'm sure you've already sent that to me before.  Ok, bye"... and that was it.  So the supervisor basically just confirmed that employee is not very bright.

  • Some people are just ridiculous. You have to wonder how they have gotten as far as they have in life.

LOL Pam! I have been known, on verrrrry rare occasions, for people whom I really like, who have been the victims of odd circumstances, to try to get renewals (it's not always possible).

I was the one who created the "no renewals" policy, for a variety of reasons, so I guess I can't complain too much. A government pay policy, on the other hand... *shakes head* You'd think they'd understand that it's not something you can just change on a whim.

  • Sounds like the guy is dense.
  • Maybe you should print the email out, place it on his head and then proceed to smack the sh!t out of it with a bat.

Maybe he can learn by osmosis.

Visual and auditory learning (even when redundant) OBVIOUSLY isn't working for him.
