My sister in law recently moved to SC from Blackwood and we invited SIL and BIL for Thanksgiving dinner.
She was very enthusiastic and said that she would bring her world famous cole slaw she makes for the holiday. Is this a regional thing?
We make a more "harvesty" sort of menu, not a southern one, and I have NEVER heard of this.
DH is from Stratford, but has been here for 16 years, and has never heard of it either.
Re: Cole slaw?
I mean, I live in SJ, was born and raised in Central Jersey, and we never had it growing up, but since I found a recipe a couple years ago that everyone loves, we've had it at almost every Thanksgiving dinner since then.
But that's because a lot of people in my family like cole slaw. And the acidic flavor and crunchy texture goes surprisingly well with most Thanksgiving foods.

Pumpkin- I think that is the thing we are confused about. Really? Giblet gravy and coleslaw?
And I am happy that she wants to contribute...but I would prefer she bring mashed potatos or yams.
