Re: It's official.
Honestly, Fallin as governor scares me.
A lot.
Totally agree with you girls.
I mean, she's our governor - I'm happy a woman got elected - and I'll respect her office, just like I've respected the President [even when I don't like him]. But I'm not exactly jumping for joy over it.
I am sad for my country in so many ways right now. It has absolutely nothing to do with the Republican win but everything to do with the resounding rhetoric of "we are taking our country back." I am forced to ask, who are we taking the country back from?
Until we understand that we are ALL Americans and that this country belongs to all its citizens, then we will never be united or diverse.
This is how I feel in particular about our state right now. I'm disappointed Mary Fallin was elected governor, and I'm sure some laws are going to pass that I'll get pretty riled up about, but what I am most sad about is that the English language and Sharia law questions passed, and particularly that they passed so overwhelmingly. It says so much to me about how we have come to a point where the "other" is so hated and feared that we feel the need to pass these pointless laws. How can we come together to make this state (and this country) better if it's always about "us" vs. "them"?
I couldn't agree more. I'm pretty disappointed in people today.
