I swear my FIL is the unluckiest person on earth right now. He is now in isolation since he has pseudomonas infection. The doctors think they have found an antibiotic that should clear this infection, but it is a drug resistant infection. So we are keeping our fingers crossed. They had to put him back on the respirator last night which my MIL called us about at 11:15 since he went to distress. His heart is doing well, and he didn't have a heart attack on Friday, it was just his body being overwhelmed with everything. FIL does have an external pacemaker that is set to go off if his HR goes below 35, which it hasn't done in over 24 hours. His new liver is doing great, the numbers look fabulous. He has a great nurse during the day and she keeps us very informed.
I am thankful that Andrew's Aunt from Chicago arrived today and she is staying with MIL. She's also a nurse, so she understands exactly what is going on. It is also comforting to Andrew and I that MIL has someone staying in the house with her for a few days. I am extremely worried about my MIL currently, I know she's not eating enough, not sleeping well and I'm just afraid she's going to crash any day now. When Andrew and I are with her we are making sure she eats, but she just doesn't have an appetite because of her stress levels.
Andrew and I do want to thank all of you though, it's very comforting to know that you have been praying and sending vibes for FIL when I have asked for it. My sister sent me a text message the day of the transplant and it said that she had heard from her prayer group from all over the country and that they are praying for Ed. It still brings tears to my eyes knowing how wonderful people can be to someone they don't even know.
