Sound it out ladies.
I'm coming to get you! Hahahaha but really, Dave and I are heading to Maine on Friday for the weekend. We are going to do our Christmas shopping, and I'm hopefully going to get some new clothes from JCrew and Banana Republic (since we don't have those here!)
I am also going to get to go to Target, since you all raved about it so much (Ash, I'm looking at you here!)
SO!
Tell me what I should be buying, or looking for! What is good there? I will have a limited time only, since so much of our days is going to be taken up with driving, so I can't browse for hours like I would normally do on a shopping trip. Help me focus! Send me links or PIP to awesome deals or the things that I should be looking for! You're the experts ![]()
Re: I'm gonna visit Uh-Mur-Icka
Run for the hills!!! The Canadians are invading!!!!
Are you talking about what's good to buy at Target?
Yes. Because they have clothes and cosmetics there right?
I just want to know where would be your first place to check out in the store. I have never shopped at a target before. I have heard it's like a Walmart. I love Walmart, but I would never enter the clothing section there...but I don't want to make that mistake at Target, because from what I hear the clothing is decent.
Or is some of it total crap, and then some other stuff pretty good? How am I supposed to know what is good and what isn't? I'M OVERWHELMED!
*something shiny! Off I go!*
Yeah, it's a classier Walmart. With the clothes, it's kinda hit or miss. Sometimes they have cute stuff, sometimes not. You can check out their website to see what all they have
www.target.com
Clothes are hit or miss, but you should definitely cruise through. I got most of my favorite work sweaters and long-sleeve t-shirts at Tar-zhay. Shoes are worth checking out, too.
A lot of people love the C9 athletic-wear line that Champion does for Target; I have a pair of running pants and a sports bra from there, and I have to say that I'm a fan.
I like their home decor section, as well.
You should totally get this for Stella because it kinda freaks me out:
I agree about their clothes. I've found some really good pieces there but others I wouldn't look twice at. I love their jewlery and their bags. HH and I were there Saturday and I got these pj pants and a white tank. These are my new favorite pants by the way, VERY comfy!

Ok I'm getting really excited about how many of you said to check out the home decor section, that's the stuff that I could spend alllllll my money on (man our house is big, and it looks so empty still, we need more artwork and picture frames and stuff).
I will probably look for some basic white/black/navy/grey tees and other basics in the clothing section, I am pretty picky when it comes to clothes so will probably only end up buying stuff from BR or JCrew...I tend to like the classic stuff that I can wear for years. But I don't like spending a lot on tees because they get all stretched out or funky or I spill stuff on them, so I really only get a couple good wears out of them before they're no good anymore. So if I can find that stuff cheap at Target I'll be pumped.
Keep em coming ladies, I'm excited!
And Stu - that thing is definitely on Stella's Christmas list!!
You will not be disappointed!!!
cloths and shoes are either a hit or miss with me too. I love there home decor section. They should even have some of the christmas decorations out by now and most of it is usually pretty cute.
And please don't forget the food section if it's a Super Target. I LOVE the Super Target. Most anything Target Brand (Market Pantry) is yummy yummy.
Where are you going in Maine? Are you going to the Kittery Outlets? We were just there a few years ago...I have some family that lives in central Maine and I LOVE it there.
You've heard what I've done, not what I've been through.
If you were in my shoes, you'd fall the first step."
Oh, you will have fun in Target! In addition to the clothing section, I like their seasonal crap. Like fun holiday dish towels / plates & bowls, decor, etc. Fun stuff and CHEAP.
Basics are good there, as mentioned - layering tees or tanks. Workout wear you don't want to spend loads of money on since you'll just trash it at the gym anyway.
They usually have lots of baby clothes so if you're shopping for neices / nephews for Christmas presents, check that section out, too.
YESSSS!! The day has finally come! You can skip the food part and the electronics, books, kids stuff. And the cosmetics is just....cosmetics. Definitely check out the clothes. Depending on when you catch them, you can find some super cute stuff. They sell out of good sizes really quickly though! (And yes, some of their stuff is not the best quality but for like $39.99 they have some amazing little dresses & such).
I bought this dress recently & think it's super cute -- http://www.target.com/Merona-Collection-Skylar-Jacquard-Dress/dp/B003S7L326/ref=br_1_7?ie=UTF8&id=Merona Collection Skylar Jacquard Dress&node=144457011&searchSize=30&searchView=grid5&searchPage=5&sr=1-7&qid=1288831795&rh=&searchBinNameList=style_name,sleeve_type,collar_style-bin,target_com_size-bin,target_com_primary_color-bin,price,target_com_brand-bin&searchRank=salesrank&frombrowse=1
I also bought these recently - http://www.target.com/Merona-Myka-Suede-Wedge-Shoes/dp/B003ANTXEI/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&searchView=grid5&keywords=myka shoes&fromGsearch=true&sr=1-4&qid=1288832428&rh=&searchRank=target104545&id=Merona Myka Suede Wedge Shoes&node=1038576|1287991011&searchSize=30&searchPage=1&searchNodeID=1038576|1287991011&searchBinNameList=subjectbin,price,target_com_primary_color-bin,target_com_size-bin,target_com_brand-bin&frombrowse=0
I think this is the tank that I got (in brown & white). I like that's it's pretty long so it's nice to wear under sweaters & cardigans - http://www.target.com/Mossimo-Supply-Co-Juniors-Long/dp/B003UQT42G/ref=br_1_7?ie=UTF8&id=Mossimo Supply Co Juniors Long&node=1293453011&searchSize=30&searchView=grid5&searchPage=1&sr=1-7&qid=1288832939&rh=&searchBinNameList=target_com_category-bin,collar_style-bin,target_com_size-bin,target_com_primary_color-bin,price,target_com_brand-bin&searchRank=salesrank&frombrowse=1
Other than that, just browse around the clothing department. Super cute purses & jewelry sometimes, too. Oh and I love their home decor. Lots of nice mirrors, wall art, candles, baskets, throw pillows, etc etc. They just put out Christmas stuff too if you need some decorations.....?!? Like Stu (I think) mentioned, the dollar section is by the front door (check both doors if you go to a Super Target because the dollar section is only by one door) and it's kinda hit or miss there. They do have "teacher stuff" but only in July/Aug. Right now it's leftover Halloween stuff & some new Christmas stuff. Sometimes they have cute notepads/list pads and thank you notes & such for $1.
LOVE the home decor stuff from Target! They have SUCH cute stuff!!!! And I have quite a bit of it. I also buy sports bras from there. They're only like $16 versus $35 and they are pretty much exactly the same as the Champion ones they sell in sporting good stores. Every Target is different. The one closest to our house is great but the one a little further down the street is kinda poopy. So hopefully the one you hit up is a GOOD one!
Check out the local nest board for that area and see if they have any inside information for you!!! Even if its just for great restaurants in the area!
Um I'm getting embarrassed at how much I've bought at Target recently but I also bought this adorable little brown jacket that you may be interested in....

PS - I'm not a coffee/Starbucks person at all, but some Targets have a Starbucks inside so you can get a coffee and then shop around
Thanks ladies, I'm making a list today of thingsthat I want to be onthe lookout for. Ash, can you make those links clicky so I can see them from my phone? K thanks
ETA: Never mind, I opened up my computer because I was very curious. We have a very similar sense of style I think. I already have a dress that looks VERY similar to the one you posted, and a jacket like that brown one as well. I will definitely be scooping up a few tanks, especially at $8, that is crazy!
