Re: Poll: How did you vote?
I selected 100% Democrat as my option here - but not all of the candidates have party affiliation.
I voted for Alan Page & Helen Meyer for the Supreme Court - I know that the person running against Meyer was Republican party endorsed, which I disagree with not because he's an R, but because Judges should be impartial, and being endorsed by a party implies that he agrees with certain positions that he may not have ruled on yet. I also voted for the incumbants in the appeals court races for similar reasons.
For Soil & Water Supervisor positions I voted for Amber Collett and David Richert - they both won. I specifically picked them because I felt some others had conflicts of interest - biggest one being that a few candidates are farmers which has a direct conflict with soil & water quality interests, in my opinion, since farmland runoff is a huge piece of the soil & water quality issues we are having in MN.
For Three Rivers Park Board Commissioner I voted for Franzesse - she lost.
Everyone that runs behind a party platform, I voted for the Democrat. It's also not that I'm uninformed or a strict party-liner.. most of the time, the Democrats are too MODERATE for my viewpoint. So the Democrats are 99% of the time my best option.

Mr. Sammy Dog
do people not realize what our ancestors had to go through to get the right to vote for women? to not vote with no good excuse is deplorable.
and yet they also have the right *not* to vote. amazing.
since you're clearly an alias, and looking for a fight, I'll oblige.
I agree. It's too important a part of being a citizen.
Why is that person using an AE to express these basically mild opinions in a few posts? I don't get it. Is someone so terrified of getting even a little bit of push back that they can't say what they think with their own name? Seriously, I'm asking because they aren't even saying anything that bad.
Judging
I voted 100% dem this time. Usually I have a little mix of dem and third parties.
I WANTED to vote for Horner. In fact, if we had run off voting, I would have. But I dislike Emmer enough, that with our current system, I didn't feel as if I could...and with the results the way they are, I'm glad I didn't.
I don't get why people use an AE at all in most situations. I will cop to the fact that I had a very personal money issue that I wanted to ask on the MM board and I did it under an AE but thats only because my actual name is pretty easy to figure out. Other then that if I can't post it in my actual screen name then I don't post at all.
They do it to be b*tches and still have everyone like their regular posting name. Lame, since this is already A FREAKING MESSAGE BOARD, but understandable. They are puss1es.
But this one, I don't get. Does *she* think what she is posting is shocking? To say our ancestors fought for the right to vote? Or to call MBach BSC? These are not particularly flammable statements.
Judging
I really wanted to vote Horner as well. As did MANY of my friends and coworkers that I have talked to. It's unfortunate that we "can't" vote for somebody strictly because we are all afraid of throwing out vote away. It makes you wonder what would have happened if everyone that felt this way had actually voted Horner...
Agreed 110%...maybe they should post in their real name because maybe we don't like them under their real name anyway
. I know people don't like me so that's why I don't care about what name I say things under
That makes me sad.
Judging
me too, why would you think that?! I like you.
ETA: AE's annoying me the most out of anything on these boards! They just don't make sense to me.

well, you know I like you
Janell, I like you too! I wouldn't have put you in the category of the disliked.
I voted straight ticket Dem. I voted for the incumbent judges. All of them. Because I know all the appellate judges, and they are all excellent, regardless of leaning. In state courts, political perspective is less important. I'd rather just have independent, high quality, judging. The incumbents definitely provide that. I really want a retention election system for judges, although as Iowa showed, that can also go awry.
This!
I DID vote for Horner 1. because he would best represent me and 2. because if people who find themselves most aligned with the third-party candidate don't vote for him/her, we will NEVER have a viable third-party in this country and whoo boy, do we need one.
I hate doing it (I also voted for the I in my congressional district), because it IS "wasting" my vote, because so few people will actually vote for their preferred candidate. As you admitted.
My vote is my voice, and my voice went to the polls to say: there are options other than R and D!
