NER: weekend update, and a hint!

we had a great weekend away (OK, we were in Redmond, a suburb of Seattle famous for being the home of a certain large software company... not exactly a hot vacation spot, but I digress)...
we went to our state La Leche League conference. LLL is devoted to breastfeeding information and advocacy, but (at least in Wa state) every two years they do a conference on parenting issues - - - you name the issue, there was a lecture or seminar on it - - - everything from diapering (cloth? disposable? something else) to cosleeping to (yes) breastfeeding to hardcore medical stuff, to the importance of the family dinner, to how to get outside with your kids. It was a blast (for me, I'm a big geek!)... if you're super fascinated you can see the program HERE
DH stood up at lunch on Saturday and told the assembled everybody (200+ people) that it was my 40th birthday, and got them all to sing to me. It was incredibly sweet. The rest of the weekend people kept wishing me a happy birthday!
We stayed in the hotel where the conference was held - - a Marriott... and, hence THE HINT.
When we were checking in, DH mentioned offhand that it was my birthday (Desk Clerk: "are you here for the conference?", DH: "yes, and it's my wife's birthday tomorrow.")
We went out Saturday night and when we came back... chocolate covered strawberries and champagne, as a gift from the hotel!
