Sorry in advance for the length. But thanks for reading it.
I started a new full time, Mon-Fri, daylight position last month in the Behavioral Health department of our hospital. Before this, I worked for 2 years, part time, varied shifts, weekends/holidays in the Emergency Department. I love this job. I love the pyschiatrist that we work for. I love the 3 other girls that I work with. I like the 2 therapists that we work for.
Tuesday we found out that the hospital basically does not want to renew Dr. Sheth's contract. If no contract is signed, he will be done Dec. 16th. They are looking into contracting both inpatient and outpatient (my area) providers from a center in State College. They have another psychiatrist from Altoona that is willing to provide both services, inpatient and outpatient, but outpatient only two days a week and not for children. A big part of our clientele. But they have no contract for her yet. They talked of a PA coming, but she's only interested in inpatient.
We have no idea what that means for our jobs as support staff. If they do get atleast one provider to be based here, they won't need 4 support staff. If they get no providers, they will have a provider come in for the month of January to cover the appointments already made, and then that would be the end of the department.
It doesn't look good. I thought I was done looking through the classifieds for a permanent job. I'm tired of having to change jobs. It does not look good on my resume. I told my DH that I need to be a SAHM because I apparently am bad luck for anyone who employs me.
