I need some entertainment today, ladies! I challenge you to post

Post about anything, whatever you're thinking of at the moment, a rant, a rave, I don't care.  Let's all wake up and fight the funk that this gloomy day is bringing!  Let's get the board moving.

To get us started: what are some things you DO like about the winter?

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • Snowfall actually brightens things up--all that whiteness and how it reflects the light.

    Snowboarding.

I like wearing my sweaters and warmer layers.

I also like cold-weather foods: soups, teas, etc.

  • I love winter, usually. I love building fires and sweaters and scarves and hot cocoa. I also like to play with make up, so the winter skin gives me a chance to do that!

It will be in the 30s tomorrow night in SC. We are going to build a fire. I am ridiculously excited about this.

  • I love winter! I love the ground covered in fresh snow, and when the tree branches are covered in snow... So beautiful!

We live on a pond, so in the winter we have family and friends over almost every weekend (that it's cold enough) for ice skating. We bring benches and a fire pit right out onto the ice, and afterward we go inside and have a fire in the fireplace and make hot chocolate. I look forward to it year round!

  • Nothing. ::pouts in the corner::

    Just kidding. Smile

I actually like snow, especially if it's really cold out. I feel it justifies the coldness if it snows. Of course if it snows during my commute I hate it, haha. I also love soup, hot tea/coffee.

  • I like being able to go a week without shaving my legs.

Is this not acceptable in the summer?? Embarrassed

I'm not really a fan of winter in general, but there are things that make it tolerable:

    • snow days
    • sweaters
    • fires
    • hot chocolate
    • CHRISTMASSSSS

Ha!  I won't judge.  I am usually at the beach on weekends and wearing a skirt at least once a week, so during the summer I am shaving about every other day.

I thought for about 5 minutes and that was seriously the only thing I could come up with.  Why do I live in New England???

haha - I basically only shave if we're down the Cape and I'll be on the beach.

And I'm with you - not really sure why I live in NE!  Besides the fact that MH is the complete opposite - he loves EVERYTHING about winter

You and I need to become IRL friends immediately, so it isn't creepy when I show up this winter for this. This. Sounds. Awesome.

     I love winter!

    Skiing

    Snowshoeing

    Yurt Camping

    Down Comforters

    Chunky Sweaters

Forgetting how bad I look in a bathing suit

  • I'll have to host a Boston nestie Ice Skating event this winter! Haha

I'm obsessed with my own backyard in all seasons, but especially fall and winter because it's picturesque New England. Granted, we had to compromise with a fix-er-upper of a house that 2 years and TONS of money later is still not what we want it to be... But we fell in love with the lot, not the house!

  • Hey everyone! I'm new to the nest-- my husband and I bought our first house two months ago and I thought that it would be fun to be part of a "nesting" community.

I don't like how dark it is during the winter, but I do LOVE getting to wear warm sweaters and boots, snow ball fights, hot chocolate, everything to do with Christmas, cuddling on the couch, baking, and fires. I am looking forward to our first winter in our house.

Anyone have any fun plans for the weekend?

You read my mind...I was tempted to create a separate "GTG at Andrea's house!" post Wink

    Your home sounds lovely.
