Date night ideas

Let's start a list, ladies!

I was thinking of looking into a cooking class (we did this before and it was so much fun)

What are some other fun ideas?  They could  be free, cheap, or extravagant!

Re: Date night ideas

  • Visit local museums, art shows (most are suggested donation only)

    picnic in the park

Just drive around local neighborhoods and be nosey (great for Sat/Sun afternoons when you just want to get out of the house, but don't know what to do- you can even crash an open house or two).

    Movie matinee

We are going to an Italian comedy wedding this weekend that serves dinner, but you could go to any comedy show.  Most aren't that expensive (at least in CT).

Wine tasting (most states have local wineries you can visit & do a tasting for a nominal fee- when we go we pack a picnic lunch and snack at one of the wineries as most have picnic areas in CT)

Visit a local theater and see a play/musical

Go to a bed and breakfast for a long weekend (I've always wanted to do this at least once)

Get a couple's massage  (you could even do this at home by buying massage oils and taking turns massaging each other to save money- it can lead to other things, just sayin')

  • Awesome ideas, Heather! It made me think of a  couple more:

Check out your local high school and attend a  sporting or music/theater event. Apparently the HS football team in  our town is really good and we've been wanting to go. We went to Jazz night one  time at K's old  high  school when we lived with the  ILs. It was fun.

Volunteer - sign up for a  local service  event like a cleanup project, or something  to give back in your community together.

  • I love our dates to the farmers market (lame I know) but usually we will come home with fresh veggies & meats and cook dinner together.

Some of my favorite dates are when we have splurged on a good bottle of wine and sat on our back porch, and just enjoyed the wine and apps and talked. (of course too cold for that now, in the winter we will chill by our gas fireplace instead!)

    Love going to winery's!

There is a local private airport, they now have a restaurant/bar there, they didn't used to... I could go and watch planes take off and lane all day!

    Thats a start...

  • What about a date night doing something the other person is interested in, but you haven't really been exposed to or given it a shot yourself?

  • Well since we do things on the cheap here since I'm a SAHM.

Sometimes we would go to Goodwill and check out the movies. They have DVD's and VHS (and a ton of these) when we couldn't find another DVD we wanted and we found some VHS we did I said mayve they have a tape player and they did, so we bought that too. It was still less than $10 and we still have the tape player.

Go for a hike and have a picnic (once your knee is better)

Go back to where you got engaged and have a picnic.

Go for a massage at the massage school nearby (if you have one)

  • I love watching sunsets. In the car (since it's cold right now!) or outside- I live on an awesome hill that has a great view for sunsets. You could make it into a picnic too.

Watching movie with candles as the only lights

Using groupon/buywithme/any social coupons for dinners out at restaurants you might never go to. I also like pretending it's an anniversary or special occassion and going out to dinner. It makes it feel more special.

  • Go for a hike (yes even in the winter and I hate cold but I loved it last year)

Go to a sporting event... or a to a favorite bar to watch if you can't get tickets

    Go to a play/musical/concert/ballet

do a family photo shoot (could be at a place, have a photog come to you or do pictures of eachother)

    winery/brewery

volunteer / go shopping for & donate to Toys for Tots (DH and I do every year and have so much fun picking things out)

    take a class - cooking/painting/pottery/photography etc.

    Love this idea.

What about staying at home and making it a date night? Order food from your favorite take out place. Pop in a movie or catch up on your DVR list. Snuggle and veg.

DH and I like to do a movie and lunch. We go to a matinee on a Saturday and then have lunch afterwards.

  • A spin on Date night would be a date morning...

What about doing like a breakfast in bed? You could then cuddle while drinking a nice hot beverage and be cozy in your pjs. (or not Wink)

  • I said this in the PP, but Matt and I take turns picking date nights and then we surprise each other! It makes it super fun. For example, recently, I've taken him salsa dancing and he ended up liking it, and he's taken me to 'learn how to brew night' at a local brewery and I ended up having a blast. These are probably not things either one of us would've tried normally, and it's fun to get out of your comfort zone and try something new!

  • Bowling:)

We used to write a bunch of ideas down and put them in a bowl and just pick one. We had to do it, and we've always had fun!

I love a fun dress up night, fancy dinner in the city etc.
