Slightly freaking out

So I sent my boss-boss (not the boss whose office is next to mine) my monthly report.  He responded with this.... "Thanks, Sara.  Also, let's get together for lunch next week if you're available".  This isn't something that he normally does with me, so I sent an email back totally joking saying "Sure thing!  Is there something I should be worried about?"

NO RESPONSE...... crap.  Now, I'm completely thinking the worst possible scenarios.  But I mean, if I were in trouble for something, he wouldn't want to wait until next week to talk to me about it, right??

  • I wouldn't be worried about. Your boss-boss actually called me today and you're getting a promotion! So no worries!!

    I wish!!!

I mean, he did send the email from his blackberry, so maybe he just hasn't checked it since I sent that to him.  I'm still worried though.

  • It really can't be anything THAT bad if he is waiting until next week to meet with you. From my experience with those who have gotten fired at places where I work, once the decision is made to let someone go - its that day or the next that they are laid off.

He might be taking a late lunch or in a meeting, ya never know. If you are really worried about it; you can ask your regular boss if he knows what the meeting is about.

  • I dont think its something to worry about, and if it was I dont think he would wait a week to talk to you about it.

  • If you were in trouble he would be setting up a meeting, just a plain and simple face to face in the office kinda thing. He wouldn't be setting up a hey lets go to lunch so we can talk kinda meeting. Maybe you will be taking your bosses place!
  • I doubt he'd take you out to lunch to fire you

  • My regular boss wouldn't know.  It's weird, but I have lots of bosses.  Since I'm a govt contractor, my REAL boss is my boss-boss at the contracting company.  But my other boss (regular boss) is the Govt guy who I support.  Then there are the other Govt supervisors who I also support.

The thing though is that my boss-boss is a family friend.  He used to work for my dad when they were in the military.  That's how I got the job here 2 years ago.  Maybe he's taking me to lunch to break things to me gently.  I better not have to cry in a restaurant!!

  • I'm with the others. I don't think he'd be taking you out to fire you, and if you were in trouble I'm sure they wouldn't wait till next week to let you know. That's weird though that he's never done this before. Maybe you are getting a promotion! Or a raise!

  • Well, on the plus side, if I get fired, at least I'll have pretty hair!  I just made a hair appointment for next week to get my hair cut, styled, and highlighted!!  Yay for spending 100 bucks!!

  • Yay for pretty hair! Just don't end up spending a bajillion dollars like I did when I went and got my fancy hair cut lol. I got a really expensive straightener and shampoo and conditioner, in all it was over 400 bucks.

    Holy Crap is right!!!

I think I have spent like $150 tops for my hair and that was for color, highlights, cut, style and products.

That's when my appointment is since I have the day off too!!  It's 45 bucks to get my hair cut and styled and then an extra 50 for the highlights.  Plus, I always tip really well because I LOVE my hair stylist!!!  I've been going to see her for years!  Plus, I haven't gotten my hair done since right before the wedding, so she's got some work cut out for her.

  • $100 ain't nothin!!

My brother and his gf are both hair stylists so I get the family discount and my cut/color is $95 + I give his gf a $30 tip. If I want product I get a discount on that too so the $50 shampoo only costs me $20. When I lived downtown I went to a super snazzy salon and my cut/color with no tip was about $175. And I get my hair done every 6 weeks, like religiously so that added up really fast. I'm glad to have hair stylists in the family.

  • I thought the 145 i spent was a lot! Now I am feeling good!!
  • Haha well the straightener was 180 on it's own, so there ya go. It's a professional one! Works really well ;) Plus Shampoo and conditioner was probably 50 bucks together, and then I gave her a  good tip.I have another appt in a couple weeks, I'm just getting a cut and a few foils though so it'll be waayyyy less.

  • O.M.G.

You guys, I spend $25 to get my hair cut.

    Every four to five months.

    That includes the tip.

If we're going by "you get what you pay for," my hair must completely suck.

If I'm just getting a cut, mine only costs around $16. I pay $45 for a cut and highlights, but I'm only getting highlights next week so it may be a little cheaper.

  • I use my cheapo ConAir hair straightener.  I've used this thing almost every single day for over 3 years now and that mofo is still working perfectly!!!  Every other hair straightener I've had craps out after like 6 months.

  • My best friend is a professional stylist. She cuts and colors my hair at home. For free. I haven't paid for hair stuff in over 3 years. I'm having a panic attack for you girls!
