What type of stroller do you have?
I am a first time mom and am looking for personal reviews about strollers in NYC. We don't have a car and as of now will be relying on the train. We have seen both the Baby Jogger City Mini and Select and have been impressed with those. The only thing we don't like is the lack of suspension in the wheels. At this point, we really are open and just want something durable and practical for the City.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Re: What type of stroller do you have?
I have 2 kids (5 and 2) and my Maclaren Quest is one of the best investments I've made. It is lightweight - I can can carry my 2yo down the subway stairs while he's still strapped in. It is also easy to collapse with one hand while holding the baby with the other (essential for the bus). The only drawback is that you can't start using it until db is about 4 months, but the carseat in the Snap 'n Go is fine until then.
I would also invest in a baby carrier, like an Ergo or a Moby Wrap, because it makes public transportation much easier to manage. There's a store on Park in the 70s called Metrominis where you can try on different carriers - they are very helpful.
I just bought a Cybex Topaz off of Overstock and love it.. baby loves it too! First stroller I've been able to put her in and not have her cry and try to get out.. she LOVES IT..
When it comes to taking the bus/subway, I usually take her in the Ergo, unless we're going into Manhattan to go shopping or we're going to be out and about for a few hours.. It folds up very nice and light weight and has a good carrying handle, which is very convenient for the stairs. And they come in very pretty colors!
