need recipe ideas for dessert!

ok, so we're going to our friends' house for dinner tonight and I'm bringing dessert.

I need something that I can pick ingredients up for quickly at lunch time and make while I work from home this  afternoon...so  something easy, but yummy.

And don't say cookies, but I was thinking blondies or bars?

Anyone  have a super easy amazing dessert recipe to share?

Re: need recipe ideas for dessert!

  • Scotch-a-roos!!!!!!!

    1c sugar

    1c karo syrup

    1c peanut butter

    6c rice crispies

    6oz. chocolate chips

    6oz. butterscotch chips

Add Rice crispies to a large bowl and set aside.

In a medium pot, add the sugar and the karo syrup, bring to a rolling boil.  As soon as it's boiling, take off heat and add peanut butter.  Stir until fully mixed and creamy.

Pour mixture over rice crispies and mix until well coated.

Dump rice crispies onto a jelly roll (or any flat sheet pan with low edges).  Let cool for a few minutes and roll out flat.

In another bowl, microwave chocolate chips and butterscotch chips until melty.  Mix well and pour over rice crispies (they can still be warm).  Spread / frost and set aside until topping firms up.

    Cut into bars and serve.

  • I made pumpkin swirl brownies for dh office last week. (one of those, we are have a party tomorrow calls)

I used a homemade brownie recipe, but easily use the box recipe

Whip 4oz soften cream cheese, add 1/2 can pumpkin, 2 Tbs sugar & a dash of cinnamon.

Add 3/4 of the brownie mix to the pan and spread pumpkin cream cheese on top, add remainder of brownie mix and take a butter knife to swirl.

I also made an apple crisp that was very simple with sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon,  nutmeg, apples and a premade crust. If you want that recipe let me know! Would be good with warmed caramel, ice cream or both!

  • Triffle!

Box of choclate cake (bake as directed, then let cool before you start layering)

    One tub of Cool whip

Heath bars (1 -2 I think, break into chuncks)

    box of chocolate pudding

layer the above in a large dish: 1/2 Chocolate cake, 1/2 chocolate pudding 1/2 cool whip, rest of chocolate cake, rest of chocolate pudding, remaining cool whip, then sprinkle the heath bars across the top... You could easily make this more seasonal by using spice cake and pumpkin pie filling too...

I've used store bought brownies instead of cake before for this, and let a little Kalauh soak in! So good!
