Good Deed

Just got a call from the hubs and said the local blood center called him this morning and there were some patients at the hospital that needed blood and he was the same blood type (O neg) so he's giving blood on his lunch break.

He's better than me. I hate giving blood because I ALWAYS faint and that gets old.

  • They say no good deed goes unpunishedWink Maybe fainting is your punishment!

  • I've thought about giving blood but never have. Everytime I have to give blood at my doctors office for tests I watch it fill in the tubes and I do fine.

  • I always faint too, so I try to avoid it.  It makes me feel like a tool when the Red Cross comes to my work and everyone's donating except me.  Oh well, I just tell myself that I help humanity in other ways. :-)

And now I have that song from "Wicked" stuck in my head. Maybe I'll do it next time he actually schedules it and I'll be sure to drinnk tons of water and eat right and hopefully not pass out...

  • If it makes you feel any better I faint and throw up so I avoid giving blood at all costs. I figure doing other random nice things for people will just have to be good enough.
  • Good for your DH!  I used to give blood but I kept fainting and feeling like crap for DAYS, so I stopped.  It sucks because the Red Cross calls all.the.time and it makes me feel bad.  And also pisses me off at the same time.

  • Yay for your hubby! I try to give about 3-4 times a year. (I have to skip one after the third or fourth time in a row b/c my iron is always too low. I think I have given over 2 gallons already in the past 8 years or so... I like to think that it's the least that I can do, it helps others and is free except for my time.

  • I pass out, too!  As a matter of fact-tbear's post made me feel queesy!  Ughhh!    Although, I am a little high on my pain meds right now.  Haha!  I always feel bad about not being able to give blood, so I decided I wanted to get on the bone marrow donar list...to make a very long story short...you basically have to give blood to get on the list but there are ways around it.  I did my research and found a way around it...and have been a donar for a few years. I just wish they would call me to give now!!!!!

There are lots of ways to "give" instead of giving your blood!  xxoo Don't feel bad...we're not ALL meant to do it!

But good for your H.  xxoo  That is very kind of him.
