I have to say something

This is  FB related.

I know there are two of you that have either already finished, or begun decorating for Christmas, and I would like to file a complaint.  I understand the need to get things done before snow, yadda yadda, but still.  Can I please get through Thanksgiving before being bombarded by Christmas decorations?  You are making me feel bad for my lack of completely shopping.

Re: I have to say something

  • Sorry :o( The only thing we're doing is the outside lights so that DH doesn't have to be on our 2nd story roof in the snow and/or ice.

If it makes you feel any better, I haven't bought a single gift yet.

  • i thought the same thing when marcy posted a pic of greg putting up the christmas tree... i mean come on people!
  • I love Christmas, but I can't bring myself to decorate just yet. I have, however, started shopping. :P

  • DH is obsessed with Christmas but very, very strictly does not start until the day after Thanksgiving.

But then it's on like Donkey Kong.

I do kind of get a happy feeling from seeing the Christmas displays at stores though.

You know what I find even more offensive than starting early? Christmas music being played in dept. stores after Christmas, after New Year's even. Gordman's does this (store like TJ Maxx or Ross's) and it pisses me off.

  • I don't feel that I've had enough time to experience Christmas if we wait until after Thanksgiving. Also, I don't think that Thanksgiving is really worth anything if not for Christmas. I like to celebrate the two together. I'm planning to put up decorations in a week or so.

Surprise  Oh my....stab to the heart!! HA!  T-day is my FAVORITE holiday!  Thanksgiving deserves to have special decor and to be celebrated seperately from Christmas, IMO.  We decorate the day after Thanksgiving.  All T-day stuff comes down in the morning, I do a quick cleaning, we go buy the tree, put on some Brenda Lee and decorate!

I guess religiously, Christmas is the main thing I have to be thankful for, which of course must go hand-in-hand with Easter. To me, they're more important when considered together.

  • You want mixing of holidays?  Chanukah starts November 30 this year!  I have a love/hate thing going on when it's that early.

But yeah, I'm glad it's not just me who hates it when the winter holidays go up when the fall holidays are still happening.  Not cool.  And Kohl's, much as I love the store, was playing ALL Christmas music the other night.  Seriously, people?
