celebrating our engagement anniversary??

Are DH and I weird if we celebrate our engagement anniversary? Saturday will be one year that we got engaged (and we will be married 4 months soon...we move fast!!) and the other day while i was at work he texted me with "we have to do something very nice on saturday." I was so excited he remembered what saturday was! i was planning on hopefully doing something anyway but now im more excited that he remembered too. I was just wondering if anyone celebrated their year anniversary of getting engaged, and if you did anything super fun for it. I have been trying to think of what we could do. Big Smile

Re: celebrating our engagement anniversary??

  • We didn't do anything for our 1 year of engagement, so I doubt we will now that 2 years is coming up. One of the reasons we didn't do anything is probably because we got married like 10 or so days after the anniversary of our engagement. We did, however, reminisce and share memories of that trip together. It didn't go by completely unnoticed, we just didn't do anything specific to celebrate.
  • I'll be honest, I didn't even remember our engagiversary until a week or two later, needless to say we didn't celebrate. We still acknowledge our dating anniversary since we celebrated it for 7 years before we got married. I'm sure over time we won't, but after 7 years it's hard to let go of it Wink

  • We do because it also happens to be our dating anniversary.  Which is coming up next week actually.  I hope we do something this year even though we're married.

  • We celebrated our 1st "engage-aversary" by going out to a nice dinner and drinks but didn't for our 2nd.  We got engaged on July 3rd so it's already a festive time!
  • We no longer celebrate our engagement anniversary since getting married, but we were engaged 3 years so it's a little different.

I don't think it's weird for you and your hubby to celebrate the day at all. I would still celebrate it if DH was interested, but once we got married he didn't want to celebrate it anymore.

    Have fun!
