c25k ers

So... how have you done all three days yet?

what's your progress?

feeling easier/harder?

what have been the biggest hurdles with this program?

anything else you want to share?

Re: c25k ers

  • i'm going to come clean:  I've only done one of the three days this week.  Wednesday it was raining and last night we had a last minute gtg with another couple that we don't get to see often enough, and tonight my family is coming into town.  ugh.

My progress sucks.  I'm  hoping I might be able to squeeze in at least the second day on saturday.  Then maybe I'll just skip the third day and go straight to "week 2".

The first day was hard, but thankfully DH went with me and he loooooves running and that encouraged me not to be a pansy and quit.

time management has been my biggest hurdle.  It should NOT be this difficult to find 20 minutes in my day to dedicate to working out.

As anyone seen MC's post on the bump?  Her motivation and huge change in 12 weeks made my jaw drop.  Serious motivation that I can do something that great for myself, too.

  • I haven't started (again) yet. :(

Was sick on Sunday, and kinda still sick on Monday.  Then every other morning/night has been rough b/c of a busy schedule this week.

    I know... excuses, excuses.

I'm going to try to bring my running stuff to NY with me next week so I can maybe use the hotel gym.  Or maybe just walk to the studio in the mornings (45 blocks).

  • I've done two days. There was no way I could start on Monday this week, so I've done Tuesday, Thursday, and plan on doing Day 3 this weekend.

So far it's definitely easier than when I did it last year for the first time, so it's nice to know my body remembers something about running.

I have two big obstacles: Motivation and hunger. I've basically pushed myself into exercising this week. I haven't wanted to go and I'm not in the habit anymore so it's extra hard to just get off my butt. Then, the day after I work out, I'm so hungry and I end up snacking on crackers and stuff and I feel like any good that I did just went out the window. Anyone else have this problem?

  • We can do this ladies!!

I have done all 3 days, and actually am going to get on the treadmill again tonight.   The thing is though, I can't do the complete 25 minutes of walk/run. The first day I got to 13 minutes (after the initial 5 min walk), my legs felt like jello and I felt like I couldn't breathe and then I started crying because I'm mad at myself, and that made it impossible to breathe, so I quit then.  I was never the thinnest girl in the world, but I was in shape and could run a mile non stop, so the fact that I couldn't get through what seems like an easy workout just made me sick.  So, I decided that if I had to do it slower, then I would do it slower.  What matters to me is I am doing something and at this point I haven't done anything in several years.

So, day 2 and 3, I got on and tried again and stopped the running around 13 minutes again but then walked the rest of the time so I at least finished the time. I am determined to get there one way or another.

  • I didn't get any of week 1 done this week. Between working late 4 nights out of the week and the sore throat/fever I just was too tired. Since I've done the program before, my plan is just to jump into week 2 this week. My schedule is much lighter this week, so I should be able to get 3 days in no problems. Congrats to everyone else. Keep it up!!

  • I plan on starting in Monday. I'm heavier than I was the first time I started so I wanted to get a couple weeks of walking in before I started C25k. I'm also going to try to go to spin class 2x a week. I'm the past I've gotten really good results with spin class. It helps build my stamina. If anyone wants to join me in Wednesdays at 5:45 @ Lincoln village Golds let me know. The guy teaching the class is awesome. I've also come to realize that I have to workout in the morning before work. If I don't do it in the morning it's too easy to make excuses for not doing it after work.
  • I did all three days of week one last week on Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday. I was huffing and puffing halfway through, but I pushed through and finished. It feels so good when it's over! Week 2 starts tomorrow!
