F/U to Public Financing and fundraising

I know I was unsure of it (it was a post by umwife11 regarding a mailing in FL).  Hope it clears it up (and does seem like it could not have been from the MPC campaign):

McCain is no longer raising money because he is participating in the presidential election public financing system. He received $84.1 million in early September from the federal treasury and cannot exceed that amount in spending between early September and Election Day Nov. 4.

  • That article also goes on to say that the RNC is still raising and spending money on him.

I'm glad Obama didn't go with public financing.  You have to raise big money to beat the Republican machine, which will find a way to get around whatever restrictions are in place.

Back in 2004, I wished the Democrats could find their own Karl Rove; find a way to slaughter the character of their opponents and play just as dirty.  I'm glad Obama proved me wrong that that's what would be needed in order to win.

That I understand---the question was whether it could be the MPC itself.  As for raising big money--that makes me a little uneasy as well...basically, it makes me feel they are buying the Presidency.  I waiver on the public financing aspect.
