Restaurant Week, Where'd you go?
I know someone started a post a while back asking if anyone was going. I can't find it. So....did anyone go, and if so, where? What did you think?
We went to Cygnus 27 in Amway. It was a nice evening. I could tell they mass prepped everything though, so some of the textures were a bit disappointing. I'm not into spices or strong flavors, usually, but the entree was mild, even for me. The salad was interesting though and the dessert quite yummy. My DH isn't into gourmet at all but still enjoyed his dinner.
Re: Restaurant Week, Where'd you go?
We went to Red Ball Jet Cafe last night. Not a terribly exciting and fancy restaurant, but we really just felt like something casual last night.
It was a great choice though. We were both really happy with the food. The appetizers were excellent -- especially the caprice pinwheel (we also got the salmon dip which was good too). We both enjoyed our entrees too -- H got the rigatoni and I got the Sante Fe pizza. And the deserts were excellent too.
We were stuffed by the time we left (we're not used to three course meals!), and still have plenty leftover today for a big lunch.
Also, the chef came out at one point and asked how we were enjoying our meal which I thought was a really nice touch. And another bonus -- there was no wait for seating at dinnertime on a Saturday night!
Hopefully, we'll be able to hit up one more restaurant next weekend -- I'll keep an eye on this thread for recommendations!
We took some friends to the Big O Cafe downtown before the Griffins game Saturday. I LOVE their Midnight sandwich. It was the first time we got something separate for DS at a restaurant since what we were getting wasn't so kid friendly. I'm pretty sure his mac and cheese was Stouffers haha. But the pizza is great and their sandwiches are yummy.
However, they brought DS a cup of milk and he took a big gulp then made a horrible face. Yep, spoiled milk. They took his meal off our bill, and apologized but said the date on the milk was still good. I'm guessing they don't go through the milk fast enough or something. It was handled well though, and I'll still go back without DS. Or just bring my own milk!
In light of everything going on with Ozzie, we are going to have to wait until next year for Resturant Week. We had a sitter lined up for tomorrow to go out but canceled. I think we will be eating in for a few weeks to catch up from his bills.
I'm glad people went out and tried a few new places. That is very cool.
We went to Bistro Bella Vita on Saturday. It wasn't our first time there though. It was wonderful. I got the harvest salad, and H got the gnocchi for the first course. Our second course was steak (him) and salmon (me). Again, wonderful, but my portion was pretty small. He got a sundae for dessert, and I go the ricotta pound cake with berries. Very impressed with the food. We also got the cheese course as well, which was gouda and white cheddar. I got a Bistro Bellini drink too. Yum, yum.
I wish we could sneak out to hit up more restaurants.
