Been to Savannah, GA?

DH and I are starting to think about our 1 year anniversary trip.  Nothing major (aka nothing international or across the country) since our honeymoon was an all-inclusive Sandals trip to St. Lucia that was quite pricey.  We will be going near the end of March (during my school's Spring Break) for maybe 3-4 days.  We live in North Carolina & I'm trying to think of some romantic, fun places to visit for a few days.  I LOOOOOVE Charleston, SC and have been about 3 times but DH has never been.  Charleston is definitely still on my list, but I've also been thinking about Savannah.  Neither of us has been, but it seems like it has a similar feel to Charleston and would be new to both of us.  If you've been, let me know where you stayed/ate and what you did!

PS - I also briefly considered NYC and Chicago but 1) They're obviously more pricey and require plane tickets, and 2) I'm afraid of bed bugs. We've both been to NYC (separately) and he went to Chicago once I think, but I've never been. Maybe we'll go there some day when the bed bug situation is all sorted out.....

Re: Been to Savannah, GA?

  • The only time I've been to Savannah was for St. Patrick's Day....  Let me just say that it was pretty much a drunken haze!!  I went my freshman year in college (right after I got my fake ID) and we had a blast!!!  There were like 8 of us staying in a hotel room.  It was definitely a crazy experience!  I'm sure it's a whole different experience when it's not so hectic down there!  I've had friends who have gone down there when it's quiet and they said it's beautiful

  • I've never been to Charleston, SC or Savannah, GA but I would love to go to both! A few people in my church have visited Savannah before and they loved it. They also ate at Paula Dean's restaurant while they were there and said it was great.
