NEED YOUR ADVICE MT. LAUREL MOM'S!

Hi!

My name is Andrea, and my husband and I are relocating SOON with our 1 year old baby girl to the Mount Laurel area for my husband's new job.  We currently reside in NC, but we're originally from NY.  Of course being a new Mom, I'm terrified of CHANGE and leaving all that my baby knows with us here.  But I'm excited for things to come too!  And very HAPPY to be moving back to the northeast to be near ALL our family again!

I need your BEST advice and help!!  My #1 concern is the area (which I know nothing about!) And we'll be moving soon!

 - Who is the BEST Pediatrician???  Can you help recommend one?  My #1 concern!!!

-  Can you tell me about the Mount Laurel area, safe areas, things to do for 1 year old's that are good?

Would love to hear from you!!!
Andrea

Re: NEED YOUR ADVICE MT. LAUREL MOM'S!

  • Welcome to the area! I mostly lurk on the board, so hi everyone. I live in Cherry Hill, which is close by. Mt. Laurel is a really nice town, I think your family will like it. The very first place I ever lived was in the Ramblewood apartments -- we moved out in 1984 and I remember absolutely nothing about it except that for years later we would still sneak into the swim club. Their swim club is very nice.

It's a little late in the year now, but for next year there is nearby Johnson's Farm in Medford and also Springdale Farm in Cherry Hill where they do hayrides and you can pick your own apples, pumpkins, and other stuff depending on the season. There's also the Garden State Discovery Museum in Cherry Hill, which has lots of good stuff for younger kids. Once your daughter is ambulatory she's probably old enough to have fun there.

So far as doctors go: my daughter sees a GP in Mt. Laurel, but I won't post his name because I wouldn't recommend him -- he's not awful, but he's not the best.

There's a pediatrician named Dr. Valencia in Voorhees who I've heard is really good. His wife (also Dr. Valencia) used to be my GP, and the two have separate but conjoined offices. I thought she was pretty great, FWIW.

There's a list by South Jersey magazine of their top pediatricians that you can read here but you have to register first (which is free). The only one on the list I think I'm familiar with is Dr. Jacqueline Kaari, who is the mother of my best friend from high school. :)

  • Welcome Andrea!

Try not to worry! You are moving to a GREAT AREA. It's my own opinion, of course, but I have lived all over the state and I love this part of NJ.

Kids First Mount Laurel is where my kids go (Dr. Haas). I love the practice.....Let me know if you want the #!

There is a lot to do in our area. Mt. Laurel schools are very good. I live a few towns away.....you have shopping and restaurants, you are close to the shore, and there are TONS of things to do with the kdis. Honestly we don't have time to do it all!

Page me if you have any questions....I am also on the NJ board (north/central).
