I'm going home at lunchtime so I can take care of the dogger and then drop off a casserole at a friends' home for her. She had very unexpected surgery this week - sad situation involving the loss of a pregnancy...I'm so sad for her and her H right now. None of us even know she was pregnant until I got her message that she was at the hospital waiting for her surgery. :-( So DH and I sent them flowers and I'm bringing over some food for her and her H since she's still recovering and in some pain and the last thing she probably wants to do is worry about cooking. The positive news in all that is that she shouldn't have any lasting complications that will interfere with future pregnancies and no damage was done (it was an ectopic pregnancy).
Makes me think I really need to remember to count my blessings. Every day I pray this baby is healthy and I can't imagine any other outcome.
I have a few other friends dealing with sad issues right now - one's father just had a heart attack 2 weeks ago and isn't really improving as we'd all hoped (this is on top of a bunch of other crap she'd been dealing with for a couple of months now)...it makes me so sad to see unfortunate things happen for people I care about. But...it's also a reminder to keep things in perspective and remember that life is precious and good. And we really need to be grateful for what we do have.
