laundromat

Does anyone use them? I could use the laundromat in our building but there is no where to sit down there & I don't feel comfortable leaving stuff down there.

Re: laundromat

  • I do...We just moved into a new place that doesn't have a washer/dryer and we are looking for one now, so I've been going to tide us over until we buy them.  It's not so bad sometimes because I can get all of our laundry done in a little more than an hour!

I don't leave my clothes there though because I've heard people steal them...I don't know but I'm not taking the chance!  Is there somewhere to park close by?  I sit in my car and read for my classes or listen to the radio while I wait.

  • Don't leave your clothes.  #1 rule.

I used a laundry mat for years.  In the final years, I found one that I dropped off, they washed, folded, hung and I returned to pick up and pay.  Hands-on and best money I've ever spent.

Pre that, I never left my clothes.

  • Yup, I go to one every week. Take the time to find a good one with triple and quadruple loader washers and you can be done in an hour or two depending on how often you go. Most of the ones around here have wi-fi which is a definite plus.

If I was in your situation, I'd definitely go to the laundromat instead of using the one in the building (assuming the building laundry center only has one or a few machines).

  • I have used the laundromat and I watch my clothes.  Maybe you can bring a folding chair down to the laundry room to sit there and wait.  If you can find a laundromat that has the really big washers ($8.75 a load) you can probably do 2 loads in one.  They are great!
