So, I joined the Y last Friday and Saturday I tagged along with Meesa31 to the Body Pump class... Oy Vey! I'm STILL SORE. Yesterday was worse. My quads hurt, my lats hurt, my tris hurt, my pecs hurt. lol...
I'm going to attempt a step class today over lunch. Which should be really funny seeing as how the instructor (one of my co-workers) said, "i ain't gonna lie, it's tough." Ah yes, let my 2 left feet shine through!
So, wish me luck. When I was telling one of my other co-workers (who also teaches at the Y) that I was taking this Step class she said, "i can't take her class. i fall down." Greeaaaat.... : )
Do any of you take a class that you love?
Re: BodyPump is no joke
I wish I was still a member at the Y. I loved body pump. Seriously, loved it. I always felt so good after that class, other than the first couple times I took it when I was so sore.
Step wasn't for me. I tried it once and struggled. I consider myself pretty coordinated and typically pick up dance steps/routines quickly, but I just couldn't do step. Good luck and I hope you enjoy it.
I've done "intro to step" a few times at Lifetime. Even that is a struggle for me and it's e.a.s.y. :-) So.....have fun!
I love spinning classes. And I want to try the Fitness Yoga at my local Y, but I'm scared since I've never taken a yoga class
I tried Body Step at the Y once, but the instructor was facing us for half of the class and I got so confused and annoyed that I never went back to their step classes. I used to love step at Bally's...
Have fun!!
the lady who taught BP on saturday said she is teaching an intro to Cycle next saturday, i might try to go to that because i'd like to try spin as well. my son's step-mom teaches spin on Tuesday and Thursday and i'd like to take her class but i want to know what i'm getting into first! : )
is it pretty easy to grasp or do you feel like you're fumbling your way through it at times?
Lily - I'm still sore too. And I've been going to body pump for 9 months now? It does get better though. But yeah - those first couple times... OUCH! My quads and hamstrings are still tight. That class will whip you into shape in no time though!
The class we went to on Saturday does have a Body Flow right after, so that would be good to go to right after. I just always leave right away becuase we need to get Alexis home and lunched then off to her nap...
I also really like Zumba - someone else metioned how fun it is. And she's right! You totally forget you are working out... I too have two left feet, so its interesting but I was starting to catch on after going 4 or 5 times. But I don't have quite enough time right now to do 2 fitness classes a week, with taking 2 MBA classes too. But come wintwer break - I'll be in Zumba too!
I adore BP and always end up somewhere near the front because I know I know what I'm doing. But with BS, even though I've been a ton of times, I always stay as far back as possible. I don't ever watch the instructor, I watch whoever in my line of sight seems to know the steps and does them the best. MUCH easier and less confusing than trying to translate from an instructor who's backwards.
well, i went to Step and didn't kill myself or hurt anyone around me so i consider that a plus. : )
it's definitely something i'll have to do a few times before i'll pick up even half the moves. anytime they rotate around the step, i'd get confused, especially if the move had you with your back to the instructor.
i had a ton of fun though and a few people introduced themselves to me which was nice and this old guy in the back said, "is this your first time?" to which i said yes and told him i was very confused and he said,"your really doing great for the first time." and Dawn, who teaches the class just called me and said i did great too. : )
oh, and i wore my HRM and it said i burned 520cals in 45 minutes so that's pretty sweet!
It's pretty easy to grasp. It took a little time to make my brain work with my body! So when they say Jab, I don't do an Upper Cut! But I love it! I burn a ton of calories.
I haven't been to BodyPump it about 2 months and the Mr. hasn't done it in two years. We did it yesterday and we both were feeling the burn. He called me on lunch today and asked where the Aleve was located.
I am huge fan of BodyFlow. I did very well in Pump yesterday thanks to the core tracks in Flow.
