Tell me about your Kindle...

MIL asked us at brunch this morning if she could get us each a Kindle for Christmas this year.  I had never considered it before because I'm so frugal and I always buy my books on half.com.  After looking a little further, I realize that after shipping, some books might even cost less on the Kindle.

Do you ladies have one?  Do you like it?

Re: Tell me about your Kindle...

  • I don't have a Kindle, but I do have a Nook (B&N) and I love it! They're basically exactly the same, so I'm sure you'll like the Kindle. I have a couple of friends with Kindle's and they love them. In fact I recently read that Amazon is going to enable sharing between Kindles (like what the nook's can do) pretty soon, so that makes them even better.
  • I have the Sony E-reader and I love it!!! It's very easy to use and the price is very low compared to some of the Kindle's. Mine is the medium sized one which is aprox 6x8. I'm very happy with it and was wowed when my husband thought to get it for me for Christmas. I get my books off a website that have free download torrents. It's not illegal, lol I checked. It also has a great battery life. hth.
  • I have the 2nd generation Kindle.  I love it.  I find most books are actually cheaper.  It's easy to use, don't need to be connected to a computer to download books.  You won't be disappointed.

  • I just got a kindle for my birthday a couple months ago and I love it. So much easier for traveling than carrying lots of books
  • I LOVE my kindle. Seriously love it. I read more now than I ever have... It's the greatest!! Especially if you have an iphone too, because you can load the free app... And if you are ever without your kindle, the app knows where you left off in your book and goes right to that page... Then when you turn your kindle back on it goes to where you left off on your iPhone! LOVE my kindle!!!
  • I have a Kindle and I LOVE it...I will never buy a paperback or hardcover book again! Not only does it save space and trees, it?s really easy to use and read on.  It's a bonus that it doesn't hurt your eyes after reading for a long time.  The books are priced low also.  I can't say enough good things about it.

  • I have the most recent generation 6" version, I absolutely love it. I got the version with Wi-Fi, not 3G. I figured I would always be downloading books at home before traveling so I didn't see the need to pay extra for 3G. So far I'm happy with that choice.

One thing to keep in mind is that the screen isn't backlit. It looks exactly like a book page. So if you like to read at night or in dimly-lit spaces, I would highly recommend getting the cover with the built-in reading light. It's kind of spendy, like $50 or so, but TOTALLY worth it IMO. Plus it protects your screen when you're carrying your kindle in your bag.

I love it and would highly recommend it.
