Wedding photos - proof book?

Just wondering if anyone else is ordering or has ordered all of their wedding photo prints, or if they're just keeping them all digital and making an album with select photos?

Although we're getting a CD of all the images, a part of me wants both prints or a proof book of every image, as well as a formal wedding album. Overkill?

Re: Wedding photos - proof book?

  • With the shutterfly and snapfish being the way of the day, you could technically have 1500 4x6 of your wedding for $135 plus shipping. It's a far cry from the costly proof books of the past. I was tempted to do that, and I still might. I'm concentrating first on the photos I want enlarged to be placed around the house.

  • we are getting a high res CD and a proof book.... not sure why--- but I guess if we are paying the big bucks=== why not?

  • We're ordering photobooks for a bunch of people and basically 'brag books' for ourselves from shutterfly.  I am going to price out how much it will be to get all of our pics from shutterfly (or somewhere similar) and decide if I still want one even after I have the smaller albums and the enlarged prints in my hands.

  • We are getting 50 pg parent books and 25 pg grandparent books and then a high res cd. I don't really want a all proof book.
  • I am making a shutterfly photo book that has approxamently 315 photos 75 pages, and all 600 photos in 4x6's (that I will put into an album), and ofcourse we have a cd of all of the images. And I think in maybe a year or so I might wind up making a scrap book.

  • I'm not sure I will even make an album for us just yet.  I'm definitely going to make one for the parents and some enlarged prints for us to frame, but not sure what we'll do with an album other than just set it on the coffee table to collect dust.  I have good intentions of making a scrapbook of the wedding and HM eventually, but we'll see how that goes.

I don't plan to do a proof book, but mainly b/c I didn't love my photos and it just makes me upset and slightly angry.

  • I didn't want a proof book, but I am going to order small albums for our parents from Shutterfly. For our album I'm going to order it through Blurb or Mpix I think. I wanted to use Shutterfly for everything until I realized that once you go over 20 pages in a photo book, its $0.50 per page.
  • I don't think I'll do a 'proof book' simply b/c our photog included about 300 prints in a nice 'album' in our package, so I have some in hand already. I will probably print all 600 or so of them as a 4x6 so I can pick and choose from all of them which ones I want to use in making our scrapbook. (I'll also look at using some of the non-pro ones for this)

Our dads each get an 11x14 enlargement.
