This is the first chance I've had to get online all day! Now that the conference has started, my days are super busy. And I'm not getting enough signal to get online access from my phone when i'm in the conference center.
Mom is in the hospital and I just talked with her. She is resting comfortably with her close friend, Marty Morphine. She had gallstones that caused pancreatitis. They have to get the pancreatitis under control before they will do surgery to remove her gallbladder. Dad said Wed or Thurs, but Mom said it might be as late as Friday before surgery. She will remain in the hospital until after surgery.
Dad is doing much better now than he was this morning. He has a great support team with their friends and their church, so he will be well taken-care-of while he works through all of this with Mom.
I am still at the conference and do not plan on leaving, per my mother's orders. She shoots straight from the hip and was very clear on the matter. So here is where I will remain and Matt will go down to be with her and Dad tomorrow.
That's what I know right now. Thank you everyone for your T&P's today. I didn't think I needed them, but I think that they are what kept me from losing my mind today.
Re: Update: T & P Please (Mom)
You've heard what I've done, not what I've been through.
If you were in my shoes, you'd fall the first step."
Exactly this. Also, I understand your mom not wanting you to leave your conference-- my grandmother is the same way. Sometimes I wish they would let us worry about them!
Glad mom is feeling better well with morphine who doesn't! But glad you know what is going on and the course of action that always makes you feel better. Hang in there because I know if you were home you would be there with your dad i am sure!
Thanks again ladies! I have a funny story to share. My mom's best friend, Sue, has been helping a lot with everything - the dogs, my dad, there with my mom. She has also been keeping me updated. I think i've talked with her four times since everything hit the fan 24 hours ago.
Well this morning, Sue called to give me an update. "I just called to let you know that both of your parents are resting comfortably. I just left the hospital and your dad is sleeping on the sofa and your mom had just gotten a morphine pump so she was sleeping too." So sweet! My parents will celebrate their 42nd wedding anniversary on Nov 28. I have a real, true love story example to follow.
