Puggs

You recently bought a Pilot, right? Do you love it? Did you get the LX, EX, or Touring? We're in the market and plan to test drive one tomorrow. We're also looking at the Toyota Highlander. Just trying to get some opinions. Thanks!

  • We got the EXL. I love it! We decided between the pilot and highlander. The pilot is a bit bigger and gets a little better gas mileage. Chris reviewed both of them for weeks and overall the pilot got better ratings, though the highlanders are nice. Theres more room between the rows of seats as well. I love the three rows of seating. It rides like a luxury car, I thought the highlander was a bit bumpier. It's just nice and roomy. It also has a ton of storage compartments. The leather is really nice too, it's a softer type of leather. It takes about $50 to fill the gas. I can get about 350-380 miles out of it which is good for a bigger SUV.the only reason we didn't get the touring is because the only difference really is that the touring has a GPS(which we both have garmins), I believe it also comes with the videos in the headrest which Chris priced out to be cheaper if we got them installed somewhere else and the touring comes with automatic roll down shades in the back windows. Like I said we love it alot! If you have any other questions feel free to ask!
  • butting in.... we are looking into the pilot too, we both love them. But will be looking at the Lemon Lot on base first and not getting a new one.

  • We went brand new because you get better deals, its hard to deal on used cars.
  • Thanks Jess. I'll let you know if I have more questions.

    ::Butting in too::

    My FIL manages a dealership.  Even though they are more expensive, dealerships can give you MUCH better deals when you buy new.  They make their money off of used cars.  I buy new.

    I love the Pilot but since my FIL works for a Chevy dealer, we went with an Equinox.  I LOVE IT.  It is not as big as the Pilot, but has better gas mileage and the parts are waaaaaay less expensive to fix if there is ever a problem.

    ::butting out::

  • I was thisclose to buying an equinox back in 04. I ultimately decided to go with a car as opposed to an suv but it was on my list!

  • Did you try out the Pilot Dani?

    Did you try out the Pilot Dani?

    Yes, we just got back. We drove the Highlander and the Pilot. There are things we like about both and things we wish we could change about both. We're a little torn. Rob is leaning more towards the Pilot. My main qualm with Honda is that they aren't offering many incentives in terms of maintenance/warranty/roadside assistance, whereas Toyota is. But we like the size of the Pilot better. Sigh...what to do...

  • I love my Acadia.  Just saying.  Plus it's an American built car.

  • Most of Hondas are actually assembled in America. I'm not sure of the exact %.

    I think you're probably right.  My dad was a die hard Ford man because they are built here and he absolutely refused to let me even think about owning a "foreign" car.  Guess it's been passed down.

    I mainly just wanted to put my vote in for the Acadia.  I don't know what you paid for yours new, but ours cost an arm and a leg.  I'm going to start getting really bitter about it if I don't get a baby to put in there soon.  It's definitely a family car!!!

  • My Grandfather is the same way! The whole side if my moms family is as well, they all have fords! My grandfather had fits because we got a Honda! He was even madder when Chris got the Nissan! I liked the Acadia a lot, but the pilot is bigger I believe.

    Bigger?  Holy moly!  I feel like I'm driving a beast, I can't imagine driving something bigger!
