How long does a Bully Stick last in your house?

I give Jack the 5 or 7 inch ones depending on what the store has.  I try and catch it when he's got about an inch or so left.  I got my first pack when I was looking for something long lasting for our heavy duty chewer.  Everyone here and at the pet store recommended Bully Sticks.  So, I'm curious, how long does it last in your house?

  • Usually a 6 inch braided stick lasts a few hours, and never all at once. He's not a big chewer.

I like the braided ones because they last a lot longer for B. He can take down a normal one in about a half hour. (Which I realize is a long time compared to some of your dogs!)

  • We once got insanely long spiral ones that lasted for hours.  We have 9 inch ones right now and They last about an hour for Salty, about 30 mins for Manny, and they can last days for Joey.  We took them away last night after about 30 mins because it was dinner times.  It really depends on the stick in our house.  We like the braided ones too because they tend to last longer.

  • We buy the curly ones and they last about 15-20 minutes. We tried the braided ones and, while they do last a lot longer, they gave our dog loose poo. And sure, I could take it away and give it back another day, but I just feel bad about it so we stick with the small, easily-digestible ones.

  • It really depends on the brand.  I try to get the Moo brand monster size (which is thick) 12 inch to last Keefe 3 nights so he only gets it for a period each night (aka my quiet time).

  • The 12" "standard" thickness lasts us approx. 4 days, because I take it away after 10-15 minutes. He would gladly chew the whole thing at once if I would let him, but that 10-15 minutes seems to be enough chewing for him to "get it out" and then play with something else or sleep.

Glad to know my dog isn't the vacuum/goat/garbage disposal mutant I thought he was.  Thanks!

Never heard of that brand.  I'll have to check it out.  My original plan was to take it away after a little while, but he seriously finishes them in minutes.  I'll see if the longer, thick ones make any difference.  Thanks!

  • Renzo takes his sweet times and makes his last awhile but Boston can polish off a 6" one in about 10 minutes.  He makes a giant goobery mess too so I make him chew his in the kitchen on an old towel :-)

  • The 12" lasts maybe 10 minutes.  A 6" would probably be gone before I could throw the wrapper away.
  • I buy the 12" thick ones. I give them to the boys and let them chew until they are about half way gone (usually about 25-30 minutes) and then I put them away until the next night.

  • We usually buy the 10" from Best Bully Sticks.

Dixie goes through one in five minutes or less. It's insane.

If Toby gets one in his crate while we're gone from the house, it usually lasts him several days. He's little and he's missing some teeth, so even though he likes the flavor, he can only chew it for so long. He might take off up to an inch at a time, then save the rest for another day.

  • We get the 12 in thick ones and they usually last our Boston Terrier boy about a week, I leave it out and he goes through spells of ignoring it or going to town on it.
  • less than 10 minutes for a 12 inch bully.  they're superspecial after-dremel treats because they're so freaking $$$.

the bully sticks lasted a week with heidi...but they were also longer than she was...
