Church suggestions near Raleigh

OK so DH and I have been trying to find a home church for awhile now and have all but given up so I am in need of help!  DH was raised Catholic and I grew up in a non-denominational christian church so we are pretty open as far as "type" of church goes.  We have tried a handful of contemporary places and really didn't like the whole vibe so we would prefer something a little more traditional.  I know this a pretty broad range of factors, but I truly am open to many churches, just as long as we get a great message/sermon and feel welcomed!  I like near triangle town center, but we would be willing to travel 15-20 miles.  Thanks so much!

Re: Church suggestions near Raleigh

  • we go to beacon baptist off of trawick road.  It is about 10 minutes from triangle towne center.  From the 1st day we stepped into the doors we have felt nothing but welcomed.  It is such a warm and friendly church.  we are in a great sunday school class too.  It is more traditional than contemporary.  Come visit sometime!!
  • We have enjoyed our time at Fairmont United Methodist Church in downtown Raleigh.  It is a very welcoming church and they have a traditional service at 11am and then a more contemporary church in the evening at 7pm.  I will let you know that this church is more on the liberal side (formally aligned with Great Schools of Wake County, etc.) and are very active in the community.  This is a huge plus for some people and could be a negative if you don't support that cause.

We have also recently visited Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church (on Six Forks) and really liked it.  They were welcoming without being creepy (a fine line in our book).  They also had great music (choir and bell choir) which is a big plus for us!

  • We go to Hope Community Church.  It's on Buck Jones Rd in Cary.  It's pretty contemporary, but we love it.
