DH and I just got back from picking up my new car!! We decided on a Honda CR-V because I needed something that can get me to work no matter what the weather is.
I am excited, however.....I cried a little bit when I drove past my old Hyundai when we were leaving the dealership. That was my first car, drove it for all of college (6 years). I spent more hours a week in that car than I slept during some weeks. It has so much of my history attached to it, I felt stupid but I was/am really sad!! I hope someone can sympathize, because DH thinks I'm crazy.
Re: New Car!
When my mom sold the car I grew up with when I was 16 I was heart broken. It was like selling a member of the family! It was a little copper colored Honda Civic! I still remember the moment my mom handed that lady the keys. I still don't think she was worthy
My first car was a Chevette. I loved that car! My mom gave it to me when I turned 16 (it had been her car). I drove it during high school, through undergrad, and through most of vet school. I sold it a year before I graduated. I had driven that car for 11 years! I cried when I cleaned it out. I still wonder what happened to her...
Congrats on the new car!!
Congrats on the new car!
I sympathize! My first vehicle was a Chevy S-10 that had been my papaws, my dads, and then mine. I'd grown up riding in that truck and I drove it for about a year and a half before I decided I needed something newer. I still really miss that truck!
I can completely sympathize! I was pretty distraught when I sold my first "all mine" car... until I was doing one last check to make sure I had all of my stuff out of it.
'Cuz that's when I saw the garter snake sticking its head out from the ceiling lining back by the rear windshield.
Made it a little easier to give her up after I saw that.
