I mean I am jonesin' for some Christmas music and decorations...but I am trying to be realistic and wait as long as I can before I start with the madness....ugh what can I do???
On a similar note...what are you mommas with little ones doing about christmas trees this year? Last year Monk didnt really mess with it except when we would put him near it to play with the bulbs...This year I am not sure what I should do...DH wants to put our tree in the dining room so that it will be blocked off from Jr., but I am sincerely hating the idea. I have a big window in my living room and I want to put it in front of it like I have done for the past couple years, but I don't know what to do. I kind of feel like he needs to get used to it and putting it where he cant touch it doesn't seem like the best idea. I dont know what to do!!!
Re: I really want to disrespect the Turkey....
kohl's starting in with the christmas music on nov 1st and i'm already seeing houses with christmas lights on at night.
Eh, go for it! Why not? It's not like there's thanksgiving music you can listen to, ya know?

And here's my advice for the tree... put it where you want it, and let the tots start learning that it's off limits. Then, realizing that they'll mess with it anyhow, do the following things. (based on a combination of what my parents did when we were little and what I do now because of the cats...)
1) All nicer/breakable ornaments go at least a foot up from the bottom of the tree. The hooks are also wrapped around the branch, not just hung on it.
2) Put bells on the bottom branches so you're aware when it's being touched.
3) Tether the tree to the window/wall using fishing line.
We are putting up our X-mas lights this weekend. We don't turn them on regualarly until after thanksgiving...but we are so excited to get them up!!! Love love love Christmas!!!
101.5 usually starts playing holiday music before thanksgiving...but I don't know exactly when. You could alwasy log into Pandora and create a Christmas station to listen to. ???
As for decorations...when mine were little, and when we had furry ones to worry about, we just used plastic balls and lots of soft, non-breakables towards the bottom half of the tree. Anything that could break I either put up at the top, or on a little table-top tree I had extra in the kitchen that they couldn't reach.
I just had a peppermint mocha from SB this morning and it made me feel totally Christmas-y....
We always put our tree in the living room in front of the big front window. I like to showcase it! We never had a problem with KP getting into it when she was younger, and PJ's not mobile yet, but I guess you could just put more durable ornaments toward the bottom and the fragile stuff at the top if you think your kiddo will get into them.
I really should burn you a copy of my Nat King Cole's Christmas for Children CD. To this day it's my favorite Christmas CD, and I think you and Monk would enjoy it.
