I wasn't sure who else on here was married to a veteran! OR if any of you are veterans!
My husband served for 8 years in the Army Reserves and spent a year in Iraq in 2002. He is definitely my hero! He considers tomorrow to be "YAY J Day." haha!
I wish I had the day off tomorrow!
Re: Anyone else marry a vet?
Same here, my PawPaw was in the army in the Korean War.
not me, but my cousin is a vet. He just ended his service in the Marines.
Please tell your husband thank you and give him a hug!!!
My Grandfathers on both sides were Navy, My Mom and Dad were both Army, Mom was 8 years and Dad was 22 years. All 5 of my uncles were in the army as well. Hubby was 6 years Army. I am a very proud American. I have made many a care package for men in Iraq and other places overseas.
I am very proud of the Men and Women that stand on the line to keep us safe night and day. That say you know what I am just doing my job. This is what the United States pays me for. HooooRaaaaa!
Ditto the I wish I had the day off tomorrow!
I love hearing these stories :-) Both of my grandfathers were in the army and so was my father. My maternal grandfather retired as a Colonel and fought in Vietnam and Korea. And of course Jason fought for Operation Iraqi Freedom.
So proud of our soldiers AND the amazing women who stand behind them!
My grandpa served in WW2.
Matt was in the army for 3 years. I'm glad I'm going to be home tomorrow night to see him and give him a great big hug of thanks.
I also have a cousin is in the army now and has been to Iraq & Afghanistan. And I have another second cousin that is in the military, but I don't know anything about what branch or anything.
HH is career Army and has been deployed to Iraq twice so far. Right now his position is considered non-deployable which means as soon as we move from here he'll be deployed again. My dad was also Army and served in Vietnam. They're my two biggest heroes!
HH did a really nice thing for my dad and had a flag flown in his name at the Pentagon for Veteran's Day (HH works there right now), my dad was speechless and almost teared up. He said that this is the 1st Veteran's Day that he's actually looking forward to because no one else has ever understood what it was like. That makes me want to cry! So we're going to the Pentagon tomorrow to take pics of the flags and maybe we'll go to the monuments in DC. I wish he was here instead of Colorado to see it with us.
Thanks to all who serve ... True, American Heroes!
It makes me want to cry, too! Thank them both for us!
My great-uncle served in WWII, but I'm pretty sure that he's the only one from my family who has been in the armed forces. We've always had a lot of respect and appreciation for those who have served, though!
