would you do it?
I just found out that H has an unexpected 24 hour layover here in the US. I can get on a flight tonight and spend the next 20 or so hours with him. Would you go and spend that money? Or am I 100% certifiably crazy? I can still get a ticket, if you can believe it.

Well, how much are we talking? Do you have to put it on credit? Are you sure that the airline will be on time (e.g. is the weather forecast okay? Does this airline have a good track record with getting people to their destination on time?) If you don't go, when will you see him again?
These are questions I would need answers to before I could make up my mind.
I would do it. I have been known to spend irrationally when it comes to airfare
Mr. was in Germany for a month a while back and I spent well over $800 to spend a long weekend there and come back together. It was totally worth it.?
Without a doubt, I'd do it! Unless you're really, really strapped, I'd make it happen.

But! I don't even know which hotel he's staying at. I'm sure he'll call me once he's checked in, but that may be too late. I may be on a plane and then stranded at the airport at midnight. Oh, decisions decisions. I have 30 minutes to decide. I'll just keep my fingers crossed that he calls me in that time.

We said our goodbyes, and I'm a little nervous about reopening that, but what the hell. 7 months or more, likely more. 1 day won't matter in the long run, but it will be fun
