Update: Since BF has SUCH a common name, we decided to go with a PI. Thanks for all your tips though!
Any tips on how to track someone from your past when you have no clue where they would be anymore? My son would like to contact his birth father (who gave up parental rights when he was born) because of Kael on the way. He does NOT want a relationship with the guy! He ONLY wants to find out a medical background history for that side of the family. All I know is 19 years ago he moved to Flint, MI to work at Frito Lay and his parents live in Gwinn, MI. The same sounds familiar, but they must have moved as it's not the address they used to be at. The only reason I know that is that BF used their address in our court papers for termination of rights. I may end up even using a PI. But I have NO problem calling and first out explaining we dont' want anything other than a family medical history. So what would you do??
Re: WWYD? ::updated::
I'd start there too. Then if you get to a dead end, go the PI route.
I actually found my birth father, and my half-brothers a few years ago. I knew some information such as middle names and what state they were in, just by googleing that it brought up more court hearings, addresses, telephone numbers, and other relatives.
There are a lot of website that ask you to pay for information, so you can go that route.
Otherwise if you know of his birth father's siblings you can always try looking them up as well and attempt to get in contact with them.
I hope all goes well, I know it is difficult. I wanted to find my birth father for the same reasons, I ended up finding my half-brothers first and now have a relationship with them. Getting to know them has helped me answer all my health related questions without having to "re-meet" my biological father.
There are also sites that will list his immediate relatives and they might be able to get you in touch also.
Dumb question, but have you tried googling his name and any information you know about him? You would be surprised what you can find out about people online.
My husband?s birth father is ?Satan? in his family. Nobody talks about him. My husband doesn?t even really know his name. I do though?.and I knew where my husband was born and his birth mother?s name. I started by googling those facts all in a string ?father?s name? ?state they lived in? ?mother?s name?.
I now also know every city birth dad has lived in, his current phone number and address, what he, his wife and two daughters look like, and what his educational background is. All free.
I first got a hit on a white pages type thing. It had his address and a ?related? tab to my husband?s mother. From that page, I also found his new wife?s name. I found a few other sites with information and somehow, by a magical Facebook glitch, his Facebook page. It is blocked from my account and my husband?s, but it pulled up in a Google search.
I want to know the same things your son wants to know?.but my husband has not interest making a connection and I am sure I would be hated by his family if I made contact with him. I am thinking about it though before we have kids.
I have all the pages tagged on my home computer?.if I find they are anything special, I will send them to you so you can try.
