good bar with a variety of people?
Tomorrow my mom, some of her coworkers and my sister in law are coming to nyc to visit me. We are seeing a show on Saturday.
Tomorrow night though they wanted to go to a bar. They are thinking The London. Any other ideas? We live in the UES, but would go anywhere in Manhattan.
It would be great if it wasn't a "club" feel, my mom doesn't drink and is a little nervous to feel "too old."

Re: good bar with a variety of people?
For any miscellaneous occasion, I like Old Town bar near Union Square. It's a classy, but fun place, with a bit of history. Drinks are decently priced and they serve some great bar food as well. Plus, it's easy to get to by public transportation. Every time I suggest it, people are always pleased and compliment the choice.
On the UES, I've had a nice time at Uptown Lounge and Auction House. Both are appropriate for a group with different types of people.
