I just got a Freaking Ticket...

For blocking an intersection!  Son of bee!  Oh well, I should have known better, but it still sucks.  Looks like I'll be doing on-line traffic school pretty soon.

My last traffic violation was 7 years ago.  I was hoping the CHP (CA highway patrol) would give me a warning since I have a clean driving record, but I guess I was expecting too much.

What was your last traffic violation and how long ago?

Re: I just got a Freaking Ticket...

  • Speeding, June 2007.  I went to court and had the points taken down to zero but had to pay a heftier fine. But I was determined not to get those points!

    GL, Deb!

  • My last (and only) traffic violation was failure to yield when I was 17 and it was complete and utter BS.  The woman was driving way too fast around a bend, there's no way I could have seen her coming, so I made my turn and then there she was, driving like a bat out of hell.  I had time to throw my car in reverse, but she didn't even bother to slow down and she clipped my car.  A woman in a house nearby came running out of her house claiming to have seen the whole thing (which had to be a lie) and was screaming that 'teenagers drive like maniacs' and she told the lady that hit me to call the police so that I 'wouldn't get away with it'.  Both of them started yelling at me for being so irresponsible.

A cop showed up, pissed.  He said that if no one is hurt and a significant amount of damage hasn't been done, there's no need to call the police.  The dumb biitch driving didn't have her license on her, so he couldn't fill out all the paperwork at the scene (she had 24 hours to produce it).  As she was leaving, she ran into a sign, and the cop just shook his head and told me there was nothing he could do.  The crazy lady who 'witnessed' it was hovering around and kept grumbling about how kids have no respect for the elderly and crap like that.

I didn't get points on my license, but I had to pay a bunch of money for both the ticket and the processing and court fees and such (even though I didn't take it to court).  I was so pissed.  There was no damage to her car, and just a slight scratch on mine since I had almost backed out of the way by the time she hit me.

Whew.  Apparently I am still bitter about it.

Just a bit.  But wow, that was a pretty bad experience.

  • Well, I was 17, and my mom gave me a really hard time because she didn't believe me.  My sister was in the car, but she said she 'wasn't paying attention' so she couldn't stick up for me - really, she loved to get me in trouble.

Also, the cop needed to give me a copy of the paperwork after the lady brought in her license, so he came to my house, and my mom told him where I worked.  I was a hostess at a restaurant, and he went to the restaurant, off-duty, and flirted with me.  It was soooooo creepy.  He was at least 25 and he knew I was 17.  He offered to buy me a drink.  Thank goodness I was nice to him, though, because I'm fairly certain that's why I didn't get points on my DL.

After he left, all my co-workers (who were much older, very raunchy, and loved to tease me because I was so 'young and innocent') gave me endless grief about the cop, and it was a running joke for months.

  • I got a careless in 07. I was driving a huge truck trying to park the damn thing while 6 mo preggo and clipped the front of some ladies car. Paid the fine and the ticket was never charged to me since I borrowed my moms vehicle for a 2 years and before that i just drove my daughter's dad vehicles.
  • I got a ticket back in february for rolling through a stop sign here at the apartments we currently live in.

The cop, never even saw where he was sitting, followed me all the way to my building, then got out to tell me.  It ended up costing me $100, and caused my insurance to go up $30, but luckily when I got married, and changed my name with the insurance, it went back down the $30 for getting married!

  • I had a warning for speeding once, but my favorite cop related story happened in 2003.

I had a POS Dodge Neon that hated me. Seriously, imagine everything that could go wrong and was the most expensive to fix in a year. In September the car managed to get itself stolen from outside my house. I lived about 5 minutes from the city line in the county. Obviously the county cops came and did the report. Three days later I get a call at 3 AM. The city cops found my car (and the arsehole who stole it) about 8 blocks from my house because he was too busy lighting his blunt to stop at a stop sign. I go through all of the stuff of having my insurance fix the car and all. I call the county police and let them know that the car has been returned and to remove it from the stolen list.

At the end of December I was going to my company Christmas party. I notice a cop car outside my house when I leave. I drive about 2 miles away and get pulled over. The cop comes up to the window and asks me if I'm aware I'm driving a stolen vehicle and he can arrest me immediately. Somebody had a bit of a complex. I tell him its my car, I got it back and called and asked for it to be taken off the stolen list. He takes my license and registration and goes and runs stuff for at least 30 minutes. Finally he comes back and tells me that my mom is also on the title and since she isn't with me, he could still arrest me. I ask him how this is possible if my name is on the insurance, registration, my license, etc. He doesn't give me an answer but makes me wait another 15 minutes and then comes back again and tells me to just leave and not to be a stupid teenage driver. Riiiiight.

A month later I get pulled over again (different cop) who tells my that I'm driving a stolen car. I explained what happened the last time and how it really was my car. This cop was nicer, ran all of the info and told me he was immediately going back to the precinct to remove it from the stolen list.

I think I'm also a bit bitter, huh?

  • I got a ticket for speeding about 4 years ago..I really deserved it.  Then I got stopped for speeding less than 5 minutes later...So, I get the award for "getting stopped 2 times in less than 5 minutes" amongst my friends and family!  LOL  The second stop was kinda bs but whatever...he didn't write me another ticket...just got a warning!  Shew!!!

  • The only ticket i've had is for expired tags on December 31, 2008. I was sick and picking up DH from work. Such a bummer of a night. Sick, skipped the new years party, and got a ticket. :-(

  • The last ticket I got was for speeding in 2005 on the PA turnpike.  It was total BS - the guy cleeeearly clocked the car in front of me, and then pulled me over instead.  He said I was going 80 in a 65, but I had my cruise control set at 70.  Diickhead.

He then asked me where I was headed and I told him Indiana.  He asked me which one, and not knowing that there is an Indiana, PA, I totally smarted off to him.  Not good.  I did not talk my way out of that ticket.  Zip it!

  • 7 days before the wedding, I was driving to the train station after a dentist appointment.  In DH's car, which I wasn't used to driving.  So I ended up speeding.  The cop didn't really seem to believe me when I said I didn't have a record, but I didn't, and he was nice enough to give me a municipal violation instead of a straight up speeding ticket.  Saved me the points, but forced me to go to court since it had only been on the books for a couple of weeks when he issued it.  Cost me a bunch of money too.

  • I think cops just like to mess with teens.  I had a bad experience when I was about 18.  DH and I were in the car and I was driving.  I got pulled over because my brake light was not working.  The cop was a real jerk and pulled Richard out of the car, hand cuffed him and sat him on the curb.  He asked him if he had any outstanding warrents, wtf?!?!

Meanwhile I'm mouthing off to the cop telling him what an a$$ he is and that I want his badge number and that I will file a report against him.  After half an hour they uncuff Richard, give me a fix it ticket and let us go.  Was it really necessary to handcuff him and sit him on the curb?

  • I have not received a ticket ever. Smile Hopefully this doesn't jinx it.
  • My only ticket was for speeding back in Dec of 2007 up in Northern Virginia.  I was traveling up to see a friend late at night, no one was on the roads, I was going 70 in a 60.  The next thing I know a cop comes spinning out of the bushes in the median and pulls me over.  The SOB was hiding and just waiting!  It cost me a pretty penny to just pay the ticket and not go to court up in NOVA!  Now I make sure I use my cruise control and set it to only 5 over...never paying that much money again for a speeding ticket.

  • Speeding ticket in 2002, nothing since. Super careful now.
  • jesus....last ticket?

I used to get several tickets a year.  I'm a serious gear head and for the last 7 years I've raced my porsche cross country and gotten into a lot of trouble along the way.   But now that you mention it, I don't think I've gotten any recently!   Wow

Last time I got stopped,  my girlfriend and I were on our way to a club in DC and we were properly slutted up.  He let us off with a warning.  I get a lot of warnings. teehee

My most serious stop, the cop tried to give me 5 tickets, 6 points and $1000 in fines, but I went to court, fought it, pled one, and got out with no points and a $75 court cost fine.  That cop was a d0ucheface.
