My *Help Me* List.....
Please pass along your tried-and-true recommendations on any or all of these things. I can't seem to master any of it.
1. Bath towels that actually absorb water. We bought a whole set a while back that seemed nice in the store, but have never actually dried us off. Seems like they're coated with something. Very annoying.
2. A lightweight, cheap floor vac that doesn't scratch floors. Please remember the cheap part. I'd rather not shell out a hundred bucks.
3. A way to clean stainless appliances that isn't just a polish. The "polish slash cleaners" I've tried all polish well but don't remove ANYTHING. One I swear is just Goo Gone repackaged. It smells just like it, too.
4. A way to clean cheap vinyl mini-blinds. Not dust. Clean (they're gross).
5. A way to get burnt gunk off a ceramic cooktop. I use a Weiman's product, but it stinks.

You need to search in google, within the nest domain.

That will bring back any reference on discussion board that talk about absorbent towels (18 hits, by the way)
obviously, replace "absorbent towels" with whatever the heck you want to find.
1. Try adding vinegar to your wash. And don't use fabric softener.
2. I used to have a Swiffer Vac and really liked it. It was borrowed from MIL so we returned it, but we'll probably get one of our own soon.
3. I clean my stove, including the SS parts, with diluted vinegar. It's fine for every day cleaning. Sometimes I also use dish soap for grease splatter.
4. I don't really know about this. I've heard people talk about soaking them in the bathtub?
5. My cooktop came with some stuff called Ceram Brite, which I quite like. It has a lemon scent but it's not too bad, and it goes away once you rinse. If I didn't have this stuff, I'd try baking soda + dish soap, BUT be warned that this is just an idea that I haven't tried on a ceramic cooktop (so if you're going to try it, do so carefully). It just happens to be my tried-and-true scrubbing paste for most cooked on things.

Try wiping them with a vinegar soaked rag...the ones in our apt were gross but now they look so much better. Soaking them the tub with water + vinegar is a really good idea too.

1. Bath towels that actually absorb water. I think this is likely a washing and drying issues. Do you use fabric softener or dryer sheets? They coat everything in a layer of wax which decreases the ability for things like towels to absorb water. It can actually make them repel water.
4. A way to clean cheap vinyl mini-blinds. Not dust. Clean (they're gross). I always take my mini-blinds outside and hose them down. Then I wipe with a sponge and hose them down again.
