Just wanted to share with you girls that DH and I purchased a 2011 Toyota Highlander tonight!!! We are super excited! DH is out there right now connecting his phone to the bluetooth system & reading the owner's manual - hehehe! I'll try to share a pic soon -- It's silver exterior & gray interior.

Re: New Car!!
You've heard what I've done, not what I've been through.
If you were in my shoes, you'd fall the first step."
I am so stinking jealous that I could barely bring myself to respond to this post. We are in DIRE need of a new vehicle. My car has been sitting in our driveway since June 29, because it will no longer start. We can afford to get it fixed, but we just don't see the point in putting any more money into it because it's such a huge piece of shiit and I hate it, and as soon as we fix one problem, there's going to be another waiting right behind it...I hate sinking money into it at this point...it's a 1998 for frig's sake.
So we are both driving Dave's car, which is fine for right now as I'm not working...but since I just got all my paperwork back for subbing I can start teaching ANY day now, and one car is not going to be enough.
I have had my eye on the Lexus R350X Hybrid for about two years now, I want one SO BAD. I have a picture of it on the bulletin board in my office, and my mom even took me to the dealership last year so I could get all the specs. It's the perfect vehicle for us, but Dave will NOT budge on getting a new car right now because it's pretty much the only thing standing between us and trying to conceive, haha.
But then...he bought baby clothes last weekend so I don't know what game he's playing at anymore
Long story short. We can no longer be friends because I am green with envy over your new vehicle. The end.
J -- We are seriously so similar that it's getting creepy. The reason we got this new car is that MY old crappy car (a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse) basically stopped running, too. It would be okay, but then it would get stuck in one gear and wouldn't go faster than like 30 miles an hour. This was an issue when I was in the middle of like a 4 lane road where everyone is going at least 50mph....or if I was on the highway where everyone is going 70mph. So I stopped driving it and it has sat in front of our house since June (omg -- creepy....just like you). I've been driving DH's car to work since he's a police officer and has his own police car. His parents have 3 cars so we've been borrowing one of theirs in case Matt needs to drive somewhere while I have his car.
To everyone -- Thanks so much for your congratulations. Everyone at the dealership kept telling us how fortunate we are to be able to afford such a nice car at such a young age and believe me - WE KNOW! We are so so blessed and we plan to take good care of it and keep it for a long long time. I was blessed that my parents paid for my college tuition and that we were able to pay for our wedding with zero debt. We're smart with our money and we've saved for a long time. To those waiting for a new car -- Your time will come! I drove that 1998 Eclipse from the time I was 16 until now (age 23) and my time is finally here! Here's to hoping you all get the cars of your dreams one day soon!
