I've got a job interview tomorrow. Not sure it's something I'd be interested in, but I figure it can't hurt to explore some options. My boss doesn't know I'm looking for a new job, so what do I say if the interviewer asks if he can call her for references?
My deal is that I am going to murder your puppies and piss on your rainbows.

Re: Advice needed
I personally would see how the interview goes. They may or may not ask about that. Some places go through multiple interviews before references are ever involved. Just ask them their process.
You can always put on your resume . . .References upon request.
I agree with both PPs. I never, ever put references on my resume. I say "References available upon request" so that I know they can't call without my knowing it.
I would wait until after the interview and see if they even ask for references. A lot of places won't ask until after a couple of rounds of interviews, or until they're ready to offer the job. You may be able to give them professional references that don't include your boss as well. Not everyone will insist on talking to your current boss.
I have interviewed places where I've requested that they talk to my other references first and if they talk with them and they are still serious - and I'm really interested - I will talk to my boss about the interview and then give them my boss' contact info.
Whatever you decide, GOOD LUCK!
I always include references with my resume and cover letter. I just include references from prior employers. I've submitted my resume for quite a few positions lately, but no response back. Guess I'll just have to keep trying. I wouldn't bring it up unless they ask, but you may want to have a list of references ready in case they ask. Good luck!
I have always been asked if they can contact my current employer.
Also, I have 'references upon request' on my resume too. Partially because I like to give people a heads-up before they get called and also because of space.
